Editorial Review for Ernie's on Banks – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
A gallery of vintage baseball caps, including a rare 25-year-old ESPN hat, is the centerpiece of the main room. Other than two TVs, pool tables and a lone video game, there's very little to the main bar area. The upstairs bar and patio (open every Monday through Saturday) is much nicer, and perfect for catered parties.Baylor College of Medicine students, University of Houston drama students and residents from the nearby Museum Towers form the majority of this diverse crowd.

I have to say, I didn't have high hopes...I thought, "Just another sports bar right?" Well, I was wrong. We showed up for my best mate's first divorce party and they totally took care of us! In my 32 years I've never been to a more predictable place. It was exactly what I as a young professional was looking for. Not much variety, but who wants to make decisions when all you wanna do is get drunk! I can't wait to return!

Ernie’s on Banks is one of the best bars I have been to in Houston. It’s a great addition to the Montrose/Museum District neighborhood. Natalie, the bartender, was nice enough to let us use her personal darts. The burgers were terrific. I heard they have live bands sometimes, but not the night we were there. They did have killer tunes on the jukebox though. I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a sports bar with an intimate neighborhood vibe. I will undoubtedly go back.

Pros: Awesome Burgers!!!
