happy little chinese restaurant.. when i first moved to houston, ming's cafe gave me this impression that the place is incredibly tiny and run down but its always packed. ming's cafe is a great place to eat because its not too expensive, the food is tasty, and the ladies there are very polite. the cooks are mexican, but i guess its ok because im not too snotty about the whole authentic food deal. i mean, come on, this is america. i think they have good fried rice so i would recommend that.

Good Food, Nice Atmosphere, and is never busy, always seated right way. Love the apitizers, their rolls are varied and great, portion size of main course is pleantiful and very FLAVORFUL. Deserts, I do not know never had enough room to try one.

Good for Your Buck. Ming's is good for an hour lunch. The shrimp fried rice is fresh, never greasy. I never had anything greasy here. The wait isn't long and the service is good.

Quick and affordable chineese food. They are ok, I go there often on the weekends. The food is fine, it is sort of fast food but eating outside on the deck is fun. I like it. Don't expect fine cooking... but I recommend the place for a fast fix. :)

Average at best. I read about how great this restaurant was and everything, so thought I would give it a try. The food was not necessarily bad but it wasn't good either. I went around 3 PM so missed the lunch specials, but spending $8.50 I expected to get soup or an egg roll instead of just plan rice as a side. However, the quantity served was plenty but the sauce used in the dish was bland and probably a rehash used in every other dish. I tried better small chinese restaurants than this, better quality and value. I believe this is just another Montrose area restaurant that runs on hype rather than substance.

Ming's is Very Yummy.. The wonton soup is superb! The wontons are mostly succulent meat-filling, the skins melt-in-your-mouth thin. I ordered Shrimp w/Lobster Sauce and was very impressed here, as well. The shrimp were nice and fat, and didn't have that strong shrimpy taste that lower-quality shrimp has. The vegetables were crisply fresh: this was the first time I tasted sweet red bell-peppers in the Shrimp w/Lobster sauce dish! Many Chinese food restaurants have bland lobster sauce. Ming's' sauce was flavorful, and there was enough to go around, but not so much that your food is swamped.

Plasticware doesn't bother me since I use chopsticks. Occasionally I need help with the rice, but find that plasticware is a more stable platform than most restaurant silverware; perhaps because of the wider tines. And if plasticware keeps food costs down, then by all means! :-)

Three Dragons Café, Wilcrest and Briar Forest: same owner, same quality.

SchlebRock. I can now understand how people will try a restaurant, and have a bad experience and not go back. I really enjoy Ming's, always have until tonight. Try and make sure you go there when the owner is there!!! I ordered to go, got home it was the wrong order. Then when they replaced my order it was not even half the amount of the incorrect order. On top on this it was cold. Just for grins I asked if I had ordered incorrectly, the answer i got was "just bad communication" . What ever this means. Everyone I send there really likes it, plus they take their friends. If you really want great Chinese food that is not saturated in sauce try Ming's, just don't go with me or you might have a bad experience.

One of my favorite joints. The food is outstanding, made fresh to your order. As good or better than any upscale Chinese restaurant in Houston but at much better prices. I love their fried rice and their Won Ton soup is the best I have ever had. And their egg rolls are made in house and are outstanding. No chi chi ambience and you have to order at the front and then pick up your food and eat it on plastic plates and forks, but that's certainly little discomfort for such great food.
