Has to be the Best Thai in Houiston. My wife and I have dined at Nidda regualrly over the last several years after trying most of the other Thai resturaunts in town. NIdda serves up consistently authentic thai cuisine, we have never been disappointed. Our favorite dish is crispy duck and the alternate version served over stir fried rice noodles, vegatbles, onions with incredible basil and Thai spice. The curry disches are always excellent, a favorite is shrimp curry, the fired eggplant with a red curry sauce is also wonderful. We start severy meal with Papaya salad then usually shrimp soup.

The staff is very friendly and attentive, we just really love this place!

Good and salty!. The first few times I went to Nidda I really liked it. I'd considered it one of my favorite places, but then something changed. The last few times I went my food was too salty, not uneatable salty, but it the salt was overpowering the yummy curry. I'm really disappointed.

Citysearch Editorial Review. Perhaps the perfect example of Houston’s lack of zoning, this modest Thai restaurant happily stands next to a sex shop and a tanning salon along the Westheimer strip of Montrose. In the aging but pleasant enough interior, however, things remain business as usual for a spot often outfitted with regulars and chatty groups of friends. Customary items like pad thai and Mussaman curry are reliably tasty but Nidda’s signature dish is the chu chee eggplant--battered in rice flour and deep-fried to airy, crispy perfection and served with a side of spicy red curry sauce. Service manages to be both quick to help and unintrusive.

Torn Between Going Back or Running Away. I went to Nidda Thai with a group of ten coworkers. We called ahead to let them know a big party was coming and upon our arrival they pushed together a few tables so we could all sit together.

Their lunch specials are nice, especially since you can choose your protien. The lunch special came with a small salad with peanut dressing and a spring roll with lettuce and noodles in it (no protein). The salad tasted like it came from a bag, but the peanut dressing was nice. I ordered the green curry with tofu for an entree and it was delicious. I asked them to make it moderately spicy and I was glad that they took me at my word and did not send out something that was bland OR burned off all of my tastebuds. It was a Goldilocks situation, for sure. For others who wanted more spice, they provided a container of dried chile powder on the table. I would have liked more rice to have been served with it, but the table ordered more rice which solved the problem.

I ordered the coconut ice cream for dessert but my stomach turned when I saw a small bug scurrying out from under the napkin on the dessert plate. I realize that bugs happen in a kitchen but really, REALLY wish it hadn't happened on my plate. I'm torn on going back because the food was great, but bugs in my food gross me out. I don't know if the bug was caused by a lack of cleanliness in the kitchen or just that one had decided to creep into my napkin.

I wish i could stray from my favorite dish!. I know anything on the menu would be terrific! Since consistency is paramount when it comes to dining out, my companion and i each always get our favorite thai curries. go try it out! you won't be disappointed.

Best Thai. We have been going to Nidda for a few years. Hands down it is THE BEST tasting Thai we have found in Houston. There are other more swanky places, but at the end of the day, the food is what makes a place worthy for us. If you care about the crowd or the decor or how fancy a place is, don't go to Nidda. But if food is your thing, you will not be disappointed.

Pleasant surprise!. My wife and I decided to try Nidda on a whim. I'm sure we have driven by it hundreds if not thousands of times, but until tonight hadn't stopped in. The restaurant is pretty simple, traditional Thai decor, and nothing too fancy. Our waiter was excellent, he helped us with our selections, gave us suggestions, and was very attentive. The food was VERY good and i have been to my fair share of Thai restaurants plus an ex-roomate of mine was half Thai and his mom's cooking was incredible. I would have to say Nidda was on the same level. I think the best compliment is that the food tasted like home cooking and when we shared this with our waiter he said, "all our cooks are Thai so we make our food authentic!" I would definitely recommend this place. It's not flashy, or trendy, but if you want good Thai, you "Nidda" come here! :)

My fave Thai place in town. I use to eat Thai food at this location many years ago when it was named something different and run by a another Thai woman who did very well here as well. Nidda opened about three years ago and I have been going here for about two years now. As said before the actual restaurant is not anything fancy or hip, but it is great food and for me that is what it is about. I always get the chicken sate, and the peanut sauce that they serve with it is possibly the best is town. The chicken is moist and tender. If you want your food Thai hot make sure you tell them, they do not make everything real hot by themselfs. They have Thai beer as well as some red and white wines, but not mixed drinks. I also really like the curry dishes here. I have top say that I like everything here. The only thing that has never done much here for me is their fried bananas and ice cream, just not as good as it could be.

What a Surprise!. The outside of the restaurant does not look overly appealing, so I my expectations were not that high. But, my initial impressions were completely wrong. The food was incredible - very fresh and full of flavor. It is one of the best Thai restaurants that I have been to. The prices are reasonable and the staff is very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the items on the menu.

Don't let the empty parking lot fool you. I finally decided to give this place a try last night and I regret not having tried it sooner. The restaurant had plenty of people eating inside despite the lack of cars outside. The groups ranged from a 8 person birthday bash, to several couples. The server was quick and attentive and even spent time helping us with pronounciations. Our water glasses were always filled and we never even had to pour our own wine. The food was extremely affordable at around $10 or under for my favorite Massaman curry. After our soups and main courses there wasn't any room left for dessert but I plan on heading back to try their pumpkin custard. If looking for a lot of spice, make sure to ask the server for it because our meal came out suprisingly mild. This restaurant is highly recommended unless you're on an awkward first date because the room can get pretty quiet. Make sure to take advantage of the Thai menu pronunciation lessons.
