Editorial Review for Tex-Chick – by Robin Barr Sussman

In Short
This Montrose cubbyhole run by an endearing mom-and-pop duo has just four tiny tables and seats go fast. Start with mofongo: mashed plantains with pork and tons of garlic. Pollo guisado is stewed all-day, and comes with a platter of kidney beans and Spanish rice (kick it up with the green sauce). Pechuga empanizada is a chicken breast with a coating of garlic and pepper. Homemade, caramel-y sweet flan ends the meal.

Know Before You Go

If you're the less adventurous eater among your group, there's always the cheeseburger. Better still, it's only $2.50.

This place is awesome, i'm from Ecuador and the food is similar to ours but this place takes all on taste. Teo is adorable, and the wife is a doll. The chuletas could not of been done better, the Mofongo is finger lickingly good. Though this place is unformal and small it brings the ambience of being and eating at home. The price is right for the portion of food I truly recommend this place better than Isla Coqui(yuk). Mark my word GUARANTEED you will leave satisfied, I come from Richmond/Rosneberg for this almost every weekend.

Pros: Few tables inside

Cons: Food makes up for the wait
