What Our Expert Scouts Say

October 21, 2012

The baristas may be brusque, but the coffee is done right and the blueberry muffins are the stuff of legend. A cool ivy-covered patio plus extra seating out back and a steady rotation of live music make it a great place to start your morning or end your night.

Great coffee with an extensive menu of pizza, sandwiches, etc. The patio is beautiful, looks out over the busy Montrose intersection of Dunlavy and Westheimer.

Brasil is refreshing. Brasil is definitely a breath of fresh air in Houston. It's a cultural melting pot with a lot of really charismatic clientele. Sure, as with any coffeehouse there are plenty of jaded artists and uninspiring drifters. Some of the staff may seem aloof and too cool for their own good, but that is all easily forgiven when you are (finally) served your monstrous (and delicious) coffee and scrumptious sandwich or pizza. The food and coffee are very reasonably priced and always gratifying. As far as being asked to leave Ive never encountered that and in the past have been known to linger at Brasil for numerous hours with minimal orders.

Great Coffee. I had a great time here. Its a great place to just stop by, have some coffee, and continue shopping at the great little Montrose shops. I strongly recommend the Iced Mocha.

Great coffee, food, atmosphere. I love going to Brasil. The atmosphere is so relaxing, and it's just a really cool place. The coffee is always good. So are the desserts. On the menu I would recommend the humus & pita chips, ceasar salad, spicy chicken salad, bleu cheese BLT.

loathsome. Disgustingly rude management. I set up 2 tables together and wait for my friends to park and arrive shortly. A guy came over, supposedly said that he was the owner, took away one of the table and gave them to his friends. His reason was that no one was sitting on those chairs and you can't keep them. Shouldn't the customers have their rights of first come first serve basis? Even if you're the owner, isn't it wrong to do such despotic deed? Never again will I go to this coffee place, nor will my friends.

Hidden treasure. I love this place! It was hard to find the first few times because it's covered by the trees, but it was worth searching for! The coffee is awesome, I love their Mocha lattes and their fruit Tart is to die for!

Aromatherapy. Love the scones and coffee. Been coming for several years, but not as often lately, too far away. Glad to see the Turkish cigs bite the dust. It was too smoky back in the day, but all is better now.

Did I say the scones were great? They are the best.

What ever happened to Good Service?. Brasil is a nice place to hang out and relax. However, don't plan on chatting with your friends for too long..you just might get the impression that you're not wanted any longer. Numerous times workers have come to our table (one time even the owner) asking if we'd like anything else. When we said no, we got funny looks and one time were even asked to leave if we weren't ordering anything else. There isn't a very welcoming feeling. You get the feeling like you have a time limit on being able to sit & talk with your friends
