Excellent breakfast. Cafeteria-style lunch daily. Very good value for one of Houston's best comfort food restaurants

One of the best breakfasts in Houston. Affordable, great pancakes and an awesome Greek omelet. Waitresses are super friendly.

Run, don't walk to eat here!!!. We love this place. The food is excellent. Breakfast is cooked to order, lunch is steam-table. The place is faily owned and the owners work hard to make the food excellent. Try the Greek omelet.

Nothing is worth the horrible service. I came to Harry's today (Sunday) for breakfast with my friend who was taking me to the airport. Arriving at 11:50, we sat at the counter because I had a plane to catch. It took the waiter 10 minutes to take our order. 25 minutes later, we had not been served. We asked the waiter when he finally came by. He went and looked at the tickets and said we were number 10. That is incredible since the ticket space does not hold more than 15 tickets and I saw him put our ticket up there. I told him we would have to leave. He went back to the tickets, moved them around and returned telling us we were now number 4 and it would be about 10 more minutes.

That is just crazy for 2 reasons. No one's food is THAT good to wait 35 minutes from order to receipt of the food. [That's assuming he was right about the 10 minutes.] But worse, his actions showed the reason we had waited so long - waiters and waitresses could alter the order. That is preposterous. [I suspected this even before our waiter moved tickets around, when someone else sat at the counter long after we were there and was served within 5 minutes of sitting down. He must have been someone's favorite customer.]

I have been to many business breakfasts and political breakfasts during the week at Harry's. I will not be back. And, if someone suggest we meet at Harry's, be assured I will tell my story. As it is, I almost missed my flight. The food is good, but no food is that good. And, there is nothing that Harry's has that I can't find elsewhere.

Great Breakfast and Lunch!!!!. We have been going to Harrys for years and we enjoy the food there. It is owned by a man by the name of Johnny, even though it is named Harrys (the previous owner?). His wife works there and so does their daughter. She is an excellent chef. Anyway, breakfast is delicious. We usually get the greek omelot, shrimp omelot, or waffle with the spicy chicken strips. Yes, good combination. The O.J. is fresh squeezed. Coffee is always hot and fresh. The only downside are the biscuits. I have to have mine "hot from the oven" and here they are just warm . I recommend just getting the toast in lieu of biscuits. For lunch, my favorite is served on Mondays, Mousakka (spelling?). The best in town and not greasy. Actually though, I am kind of boring - I typically order a vegetable plate. The vegetables are fresh and delicious. Whatever you order, it is served cafeteria style. You get to see what you will be ordering. And a tip - if there's not enough on your plate, just ask for more. They've always told me no problema. And another tip: There is a private dining room that the restaurant offers at no charge if you dine there. You are not rushed and it's a perfect meeting place. Enjoy!!!

Kudos To The Platsas Family During Ike!!!. To the Platsas family, I salute you for being a restaurant that helped those who came in, and you gave hot meals as you prepared for opening the next day! Your family thought selflessly of others before yourselves, and you gave ice to those who needed it! THANK YOU as I was one of them!

And for all of you that keep ranting about potatoes out of a box there....Harry's is an open kitchen restaurant.

You can see all the cooking and preparation at the breakfast bar. The potatoes are peeled and cooked before your eyes, as is all the foods!

If you have a minor complaint about something you experienced at Harry's, don't make a mountain out of a hill, and turn the good name of a dedicated familys service to you and the rest of us into something it is not.

It is no longer a review after that, just charachter assassination.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK FOLKS!

You made a lot of people with some despair very happy, and I am sure that they as well as I will never forget it!

Luke warm food. My husband and I came across this place on a sunday morning after the Houston Marathon. Food looked and smelt great but was barely warm when served to us...too bad becasue it would have been a wonderful breakfast if it had been hot. I thought the prices were very good and our plates had large portions. The owner though needs to learn alittle about customer service. He stood over me at the table when he handed me the receipt and watched as I wrote how much i was leaving for a tip...he then made a face and walked off without even saying thank you to us. (I left a decent tip inspite of the fact that our food was cold).

Disappointing Breakfast experience. I've been eating at Harry's for many years, and have always been more than happy with the food & quality of service. So this morning, when my lady & I went there for our first taste of their breakfast fare, I was fully anticipating a pleasant experience. Unfortunately, for the first time, I was sorely disappointed.

I told the waitress that while my companion would be ordering from the breakfast menu, I preferred to choose from the buffet. When I requested a couple of biscuits and an order of bacon, I was told that these items, while available on the line, would be served from the menu. When they arrived, the biscuits were room temperature, and the bacon was literally hard enough to hurt our teeth. I asked the owner to heat the biscuits, which he did... in the microwave, which naturally rendered them gummy. To make my dining experience complete, the lukewarm "gravy" tasted a lot like watered-down pudding. I ate what I could, trying to be a good sport and not turn our outing unpleasant.

When we were finished, and I went to the register to pay, I informed the owner that I was sorely disappointed in the cold biscuits, bland gravy, and rock-hard bacon. His only response was to state that he would "check on the bland gravy." It is bad enough when the fare at a popular restaurant falls short of even fast-food offerings. To pay $6 for two biscuits, less than 2 ounces of terrible gravy, and a few strips of overcooked bacon makes it even worse. But then, to have my complaints virtually ignored by the owner was the last straw. I told him that based upon our experience, we wouldn't be returning - at least, not for breakfast, but he didn't even acknowledge the statement. I think you can guess just how enthusiastic I am about returning to Harry's at any time! Unless, of course, I'm just in the mood for mediocre, overpriced "food" and uncaring service.
