What People Are Saying About Pho Saigon

Featured Review

In the corner of a typically nondescript Midtown strip mall, Pho Saigon appears to be cut from the same cloth as other nearby Vietnamese noodle houses. And that’s mostly true. The restaurant’s interior is simply decorated (although odd instrumental versions of pop songs give the joint some character) and the menu has got all the usuals—spring rolls, vermicelli bowls and of course, pho. In fact, there are 29 varieties of pho and the differences are all in the meat combinations, helpfully described in the front of the menu. Business is usually bustling, which means finding a clean table can be a…

Unpleasant experience

by ddthtien

Went here with my sister and her husband. It was hot outside and I didn't feel like eating pho so I ordered "com bo nuong cha gio #57". Service was like at any other Vietnamese restaurants. They do their job and that's all, no smile, no friendly greetings. The teenagers next to our table was being so obnoxiously loud that it became very annoying. Turned out they work at the restaurants so I guess that's why they behaved like it was their own house. When we were eating, a young guy felt the need to clean the table they trashed, so he sprayed bleach cleaning all over the table. Did I say we sit right next to that table and bleach doesn't smell good at all? The food came quickly. My dish was good but portion was kinda small. I was hungry so I ate everything including "canh" - the complimentary soup that came with it. I wish I didn't drink that soup because immediately after we left, my throat became very dry and sore, the side effect of eating too much MSG. I can't say much for their pho because I haven't tried it but I am pretty sure that the soup is the same broth they use to make pho. I am not immune to MSG and don't want to have to drink a gallon of water after eating a bowl of pho. Definitely will not recommend this place to anyone else.

best pho around

by mojo rising

I eat here more than three times a week and have for the last year. My Vietnamese coworker introduced me to this place. The number 11 is the way to go.

I have tried the Pho at other places, but it still does not hold up to Pho Saigon.

Also the spring rolls are good too.

Don't ever come here

by Houstoneat

Pho Saigon has been changed and get worse and worse now. Since the last 3 years, they gave out lesser and lesser meat. I ordered regular beef noodle and request to have meat on the side. they told me I had to order a large side to get 3 slides of beef on the side. The next time I came, they said they did not have that option any more. All my friends, both Asian and Americans, complained about the amount of meat they put in the bowl. They are as little as you can finish all in one serving.

Four days ago, I decided to try again since we all not come there for 3 years. I ordered the chicken noodle to go. Guess what? They put the broth soup in a foam paper cup. I did not know it until I opened it in the office. The lid was melt out and sank in the broth. I called them again yesterday and tried to order a togo with plastic cup. They said they no longer provided plastic container, only the medium foam paper cup for both small or large togo order.

Since they are so cheap, why do we all spend the money there? It is not worthy at all.

Best Pho in Town

by Jewel1982

We eat here all the time, sometimes several times a week. We always get the pho and the spring rolls. The food is consistently good and cheap. Usually, when you order the pho, it comes out pretty fast. The service is ok. this place can get busy during the weekdays for lunch but you usually dont wait too long for a table.

  • Pros: Pho and Prices
  • Cons: closes early at 8pm

Not worth time or cheap food

by RaveGirl

I went this evening to Pho Saigon and let's just say it was my first and last time going here. We were sat down and had to wait 25 minutes to get a server to get our orders. I mean we had another table who just walked in and they got their food and their drinks before we even got our drinks. The waitress was cleaning the windows and floors with no gloves and was serving us. We had to wait another 20 minutes just to get our food. Not worth the cheap food.

  • Pros: Great Ice tea
  • Cons: Slow service, Long wait, Cold Food
