Authentic Mexican Cuisine???. I came to this restaurant on a friends advice...Last time I take that advice. We walked up to the restaurant and I was excited because of the reviews that I have read. I looked at the sign when we walked in and I saw that it read "Authentic Mexican Cuisine". I love Michelladas and those are usually served at Authentic Mexican Restaurants but not this one.

On to the table..every single table wobbles.

Service was ehh.

Food was very disappointing. I got the equivalent to a PooPoo platter at a Chinese restaurant, the sampler. Ceviche was a joke to Goode Company Seafood.

My wife got the fajitas. They were fajitas.

I am still wondering why a true authentic restaurant doesn't serve Michelladas.

Best Mexican Food Around. Cute house, great food and friendly staff! We love everything about this place, especially the Tacos al Carbon (as well as many, many other dishes).

Awesome ceviche. Went in here on a weeknight for an appetizer and a drink. The ceviche is a really large order and tastes incredible. Margaritas were smaller than expected, but pretty good. I love the small feel of the place. Non-commercialized and comfortable, a breath of fresh air from the midtown hoopla and all the transplant filled restaurants that have staked a claim in nearby neighborhoods. I will be back!

My new favorite. Bocados has just officially defeated defending champion Chuy's as my #1 mexican place, and it's on my list of regular places. It has small and local charm. Lily and Terry own the place, and they have personally waited on us several times! The food is very fresh and authentic. The made-from-scratch salsa is addicting. I usually get either the chicken or seafood enchiladas with green tomatillo sauce (the white cheese they put on there is really good). Even the rice and beans have good flavor (I think the flavor their refried beans with bacon).

Just go.

WORST EVER. SLOW SERVICE, FOOD WAS BLAH, EMPTY RESTAURANT, RUDE SERVERS. I WAS NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL, NEITHER WERE MY FRIENDS. GOOD LUCK!

This spiffy Montrose eatery serves pretty, if sterile, Tex-Mex standards.. The Scene
Flirting with trendiness, Bocados ("mouthful" in Spanish) does a rousing business some evenings--like ladies' night on Wednesdays--and the small bar generally spills over into the dining area. It can get loud, and pounding dance music on the sound system doesn't soften the blow. If you're planning to converse, call ahead to see how energetic things are going to get that night.

The Food
Cozy and comfortable, this spiffily remodeled Montrose residence near the Menil Collection is serving pretty, if somewhat sterile, versions of Tex-Mex standards like chile relleno, carne guisada, flautas and enchiladas. The menu has a high end too, with grilled seafood dishes like mahimahi and red snapper. Consider splitting the Bocaditos sampler (a well-stocked appetizer plate of quesadillas, seviche, crab cakes and stuffed jalapeno that easily serves as an entree), and pair it with a bowl of tortilla soup.

Suprisingly Good. We were very impressed with this place. Very intimate and great food. Wish we had gone sooner and can't wait to go back.

Unfortunate. This place is a mess. I will give it one letter grade..."F". Bad food, bad enviornment, smelly restrooms, caving floor and rude...rude bartenders. This so-called Mexican restaurant has GOT TO GO!

A great place just waiting to bust out!. The food was wonderful! The house it resides in is a great setting for a restaurant. It feels like being at home.
