In Short – Good ol' boys, professionals and other types merge here for lunch, while the regulars prefer the evenings. In all its '40s-style glory, the icehouse includes a grill that offers hamburgers--greasy real-beef patties and all the fixings. Cheese enchiladas are also on the menu. Wash down your burger with a cold glass of Shiner Bock beer.
Dirty

The glasses with old food stuck to them were a nice touch to start out the experience. The table which was beyond filthy.. ugh. We asked to get it cleaned, she starts wiping it down, throwing the dirty food in our laps, almost on purpose it seemed.
Food wasn't that great. No need to go back. It's not worth the block and a half you get to walk since there is zero parking. If i lived across the street from this place, i'd go. I sure wouldn't go seek it out if I were you.
- Cons: Cash only, parking, dirty, no elbow room

I grew up eating these burgers, and for decades not once did they displease, every bite enjoyable. Due to various circumstances I moved, but when I return I make it a point to return to this "LG" at least once per visit. I normally order a burger with fried onions, guacamole and cheese, a belt buster for sure, but when you eat it once or twice a year, not so bad. This last time had me glaring at my burger mouth agape. Before even making carbon contact with my burger, I was shocked to see the new staff. Traditionally, the place was a few people who had a common physical appearance led by a woman who was clearly a maternal leader. My burger arrived to me in patches. Rather than the grilled sponge of grease that was the patty, I was given a dry flake of grey, the cheese cold and hard, bun dry and stale, onions raw, with the little semi visible tendrils of grey oozing from their creases and the final straw, an avocado half, unsliced except for the initial incision and barely pitted, little tufts of lightish brown left behind creating an unpleasant crunch. It was with a heavy heart not caused by the ancient trans-fats sitting in their deep fryer, because of this a decades old client is bidding you farewell forever, pity.
- Pros: Close Proximity to residence
- Cons: Poor/Slow Service, new staff.
Waste of time
by getaroundhouston
I had heard about what great burgers they served. What a disappointment. Took forever to even get our food because the "kitchen got messed up". Everyone seated after us already had their food. They didn't have any chicken and one of our party wanted a grilled chicken sandwich. Also didn't have any french fries - that's totally weird. The burger was way overcooked, too dry and absolutely no flavor. My husband couldn't even eat half of it. Service was slow but I do appreciate that the servers are doing the best they can based on how crowded and tight the place is. Burgers at McDonalds have more flavor and at least they have fries. Will never go again. Can't understand what the attraction is. The cashier couldn't even add up our ticket correctly!
- Pros: quaint concept for a restaurant
- Cons: way too crowded but that's not their fault
