“VERY rude women said I had to pick up my shoes by 4 pm that day or she was throwing them in the garbage.”
“had a horrible experience at the Houston Shoe Hospital which left me in tears, bootless in mid winter, and out 120+ dollars for what I consider very destructive work!”
“They MIGHT do fantastic work, but personality and professional conduct go a long way to instill customer confidence.”
Simply the best in Houston !. I brought what I thought - in my limited experience - would be a difficult need: changing the color of a newly purchased pair of golf shoes. Well, it was no trouble at all, and I was blown away by the perfect finish of my new shoes (and I'm kind of a perfectionist too). I've been disappointed with every place I've tried in Houston. Equally impressive was the commitment to my satisfaction that was shown me, a first-time customer. I have found the place in Houston for all of my shoe and leather needs ! Watch the slide shows at their website to see the perfect work they do....
I was only calling to ask a simple question.
kay, I didn't go to this place to have my non-leather shoes repairs - needed the elastic repalced on the buckles. I called to get a pricing for it and I was told $35! The highest I had been quoted, other places were charging $15 or $20. I asked why it was so high and he the man told me they are a high end store and they do such high quality work on high end products - not in the those same words, but that's basically how it came across to me. I then told him my shoes were not not leather & he said he doesn't work on vinyl. I told him they were man made materials but I wasn't sure if they were vinyl, he said most are. So, I said okay you won't work on my shoes, alright, then I heard CLICK!
No good bye, no "hope you find someone to help you get your shoes repaired," no anything, just CLICK!
I guess I had it coming. . . after reading the reviews, whay should I have expected?
Rude Rude Rude!.
I must agree with the first reviewer. They are RUDE. First thing in the door the young man told me what a "butcher job" someone had been doing on my husbands shoes outlining every fault. Then he tells me it's going to be almost $200 to fix this 6 year old pair of (albeit expensive) shoes. When I called my husband to tell him the cost - he said forget it. I'll just get a new pair.
When I called back to tell them we didn't want the work done the guy was extremely rude. I explained it was nothing personal, just not worth fixing that particular pair. He told me to come back and get the shoes, as he couldn't have them in his shop! They MIGHT do fantastic work, but personality and professional conduct go a long way to instill customer confidence.
The best leather repair shop in town.. I do not find the owners to be terribly friendly, in fact, they are extremely rude. I think the son is trying to have somewhat of a customer-friendly attitude, but even that is an effort. After having said that, I am not going to Shoe Savers to make them my "best friends" or "social buddies". I am going there for their superb work and craftsmanship. I have never been disappointed with their work. They are truly the best and I do refer them to whomever asks where to have their leather goods repaired. If you can overlook the personalities, you will certainly be very satisfied with their work.
Excellent shoe repair.
Over the years I have used several shoe repair places here in Houston and Dallas. All of my shoes are high quality, expensive, mens dress shoes. Without question this is the best repair job I have had on any of them. They look practically new. Excellent work. This is not an inexpensive venture, so make sure the shoes are worth repairing. As for some of the other post regarding rudeness/abruptness, I was treated just fine by two different folks...they were not chatty because they were fixing shoes(doing their job!). I give them a thumbs up.

Skilled Craftsman and personal service. I love Shoe Savers! Quality shoes can only look great with quality workmanship! This is not a place to repair cheap shoes because you can just buy new cheap shoes but for my "investment" shoes this is the place! The owners have always treated me with respect and repair and clean in a timely manner.
RUDE! RUDE!! RUDE!!!. I was recommended to Shoe Savers by a friend. I have used them twice and been treated badly on both occassions. The man at the front counter would not let me express what was wrong with the shoes, and therefore, I have not been satisfied with the outcome. Furthermore, the lady who calls when your shoes are ready, is impolite and rude, and makes it clear that she only cares that you hurry up and bring cash. I will not return, and would strongly advise anyone else to find a place where the customer is number one, and business is appreciated.
Hands down, the BEST repair shop. The craftsmen at Shoe Savers are truly skilled and talented. I've brought shoes here that have been damaged by other shops, shoes that I never thought I'd wear again, and Shoe Savers performed a miracle on them - they looked as good as new! I'm really picky and it's very difficult for me to find shoes, so I consider each one is an investment. I take all of my shoes here, especially my Jimmy Choos, for everything from preventative maintenance to general overhauls. The shoes always come back looking fantastic. The repairs generally take 1-1.5 weeks, but it's well worth the short wait for the quality! The family is very nice and extremely knowledgeable with suggestions on the best way to take care of your shoes. Recently I had to go to rainy London with only a couple days notice and they were kind enough to get my Jimmy Choo boots ready at the last minute. I've recommended Shoe Savers to everyone I know. The repairs are high quality and there is just no comparison! If you love your shoes, you should definitely come here!
For those who truly value the shoes they walk in. Jimmy Choo Boutique in the Galleria told me about Shoe Savers. Once I tried this amazing place, I have never gone anywhere else! Sure, you have to give the fine craftsman time, maybe even a week. Big deal! The results are well worth the wait, especially if you really love your Choos and other fine shoes. But don't let this fool you. Shoe Savers have "saved" some favorite shoes of mine that were not expensive shoes. They also stock "shoozies", those wonderful, shaped shoe trees, and all sorts of cleaners and comfort products. Yes! Fine artisans are alive and well in Houston....at Shoe Savers!
Best shoe repair in town, no question. Twice a year I go through my closet and bring every shoe that needs repair. When I pick them up a week later, they look like brand new. You pay for the quality, but it is so worth it with what we have invested in shoes these days....I once brought a pair of sky high mules that I just couldn't wear for more than an hour, and they cut approximately an inch off the heel. You'd never know it; they still look amazing, and I can wear them now! Shoe Savers has cut and tightened the elastic on my favorite slingback straps which always slip off of my feet. I was nervous with the first pair I left, but I can't even see the alteration. Finally, since I bring in 5-6 pairs at a time a couple of times a year, they were able to see the pattern of how I wear my shoes and suggested that I bring them in new so that a toe guard could be placed on the tip of my pointed toe shoes. They have also suggested pads for slingbacks that has saved me from having to shorten the elastic on a couple of pairs. So, yes, you pay for the quality, but they are happy to point out less expensive alternatives when available.
