went to touch of red because of the great reviews on City Search, well I was stupid not to check Yelp as well. First let me start of by saying I have... had long hair, down to my waist, thick , and
"virgin" as it hadn't been colored in years. I decided it was time for some change. Carefully reviewed colors, styles and decided on what I wanted. I printed out pictures of Mila Kunis with her ever so blended dark locks, Kim K with the bearly there low lights, and Minka Kelly with nice brunette color with low lights. My cut was perfect, I just needed a trim since I already had the long "Kim K style cut"
When I showed Sammi the looks she breezed through them and said of course she could do this, her technique is the best. Then she hands me a Ipad with a story that details just how great she is. .... WTF um okay. She goes on and on about how many magazines she has been in, that she's done Diane Lane's hair and that she has people fly from all over the world to see her. I felt like I was a sounding boarding so she could hear herself talk. Back to my hair, she told me just like a plastic surgeon you have to pay for the best, hence why her prices are sky high. Now when I went in I just thought of getting color, since my hair is very difficult to cut. She told me it would be no problem and if I didn't trust her I could leave... this should have been my first clue to GTFOOT. Since they didn't know just how much hair and how long it was they( which I specifically told them over the phone) kept making me wait Sammie colored and cut 3 other clients hair. An appointment that should have taken 2.5-3 hours max, ended up taking 4.5 hours.
The end result nothing close to what I wanted. My hair length was cut close to 4 inches, and my layers cut extremely short. I'm a Texas girl I love big full Va Va Voom hair, what I was left with was a hair cut closer to what I soccer mom would have. The layered style seemed dated to me.
My second clue this was not my type of salon should have been all three clients Sammie did while I waited, had the short blond cuts.... think along the lines on Kate Gosling, you know that really short style.
Now the color... awful, brassy, spotted. No way this could be done by a professional. While looking at my hair I pointed out a chunk that was brass, and her response was "oh, I'm glad I saw that".
Another annoying thing, while there Sammie kept bragging about a deal she was cutting to get 3 million for selling her technique to some company. This was a topic of conversation I heard a total of 4 times while she worked on different clients. How Loreal wanted to buy it from her but she is already in the works with someone else. How she will get 30k-40k in royalties a month. Yes again if you are sitting in her chair you will hear a million times HOW FAB SHE IS!
I left the salon at 7:45 and called the next morning as soon as they opened to ask for the color to be fixed. Went in on Saturday, and sammi's assistant ( who I don't think is a hairstylist) put some stuff on my head and rinsed it out. Bam done, except my hair still looks awful. One thing that really aggravates me is I came back in because you did a poor job, would you think you should come over and see what is wrong. Nope, sammi just had her helper add some color.
This is the first time I have sat and cried over my hair. Literally sat there crying, not only about how bad a job she did but about how much I spent on it. I would never rec this woman to do any-ones hair.
If you look at the great reviews you'll begin to notice the review dates are the same as the date posters joined City Search AND they only have 1 review. Makes me think it must be the same person reviewing!! Shady…

Rescue is available. come see Sami. I first learned about her when I saw how gorgeous my friend's hair looked. I came to see Sami, because I needed a genius with fine, thin hair. Not only can Sami cut with the skill of an artist, she can also color beautifully.
Since I've started having Sami work on my hair, I only need my color done once a quarter. The team here is also delightful.
