“Excellent food and wine”
“The fresh snapper with olive oil and garlic is a great lite meal though the portion is huge.”
“The service was so friendly our server was a young gentleman who was very knowledgeable about everything on the menu.”
“am sorry but I don't think I will go back there and that is a shame because it seems like a good place but for Mexican food I can go to many other places in my neighborhood.”

“When placing an order over the telephone, the restaurant manager was rude.”

Great location in Rice Village. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Nice, fairly wide selection of wines. Wife had the Osso Bucco, and I had the Medallones. Both were excellent. Finished with Tres Leches and espresso. This is our new favorite place to eat in the Village.
We decided to meet some friends for a Friday night dinner. They offer valet parking, but I am not a fan of other random people in my car, especially driving it, so we parked on the street. We were seated right away and the waiter immediately greeted us. We ordered margaritas and took a bit of time to decide on dinner. I ordered Ropa Vieja and my husband ordered Lechon Asada. Our entrees were delivered immediately after our salads, which was nice, and surprisingly quick. The Ropa vieja was delicious, the beef was nice and tender and perfectly seasoned. The plantains were also delicious. I tried a bite of my husband's and it was a little bit salty for me, but maybe that is typical of that dish. I really like that this is a family owned and operated business. Also, I heard they were open as soon as possible after Hurricane Ike, taking care of the community's stomachs!
Nice for a lunch out with Mom, the Cuban Sandwich was almost as good as the one in Puerto Rico.
We had a mix of tapas and bacaloa (spelling might be wrong)which was very good. Service was provided by Tacy who was very good. Great spot to enjoy Spanish food.
We enjoyed our dinner at El Meson very
much. The tapas choices, wine, and entrees were all very good. Lamb meatballs, spanish tortilla (frittata), and serrano ham with Manchego were delicious. The Solomillo entree, a butterflied pork tenderloin filet, was cooked to perfection and of generous proportion. The red snapper entree and Paella were equally tasty. There was enough to take home for another meal.
It was a pleasure to have a leisurely meal with our party of 5 and be able to carry on a conversation without yelling at each other. That's worth 10 stars in my book.
It was our first visit there, but we will return.
Cuban/Spanish cuisine that will not change your life, but is always what you want it to be. Paella's are excellent. Standard (ropa vieja, masitas, osso bucco) are all very good. Rarely over-crowded and great for larger groups (with reservation).
Great food, charming, professional service. A very enjoyable pre-theater dinner for my husband and me!
I ate there for lunch and the food and service was excellent. Fit for foodies, good for groups, great for outdoor dining, special occasion, great for lunch.
Food was good. Sangria was good. Nice environment, able to have a conversation without much noise. Will go back.
