Houston >Ellen's Pampered Pet Inn
“The atmosphere is friendly and open.”
“For a high energy dog, it is a great place to go.”
“This cozy spot in the West University area has become a weekly resource for my little terrier, Merry, and me and I cannot say how very much it helps me to know that Ellen and her staff will treat my dog just the way I do.”
“Prior to coming to Ellen's, I drove to Antoine on I10, and Ellen's pricing is reasonable and comparable to other groomers.”
“We have had to go on a number of last minute trips and the staff at the Inn is very helpful with getting our boarding needs met with short notice.”
Best Pet Hotel and Spa. Both of our dogs LOVE this place! The staff knows our dogs by name and every time they come home they look and smell WONDERFUL. The owners treat each dog as their own and receive lots of love and care. The facility really looks like a spa and my dog-children LOVE being there!
The Only Place I Will Ever Take My Dog!!. I've been taken my dog to Ellen's for over four years now. I drive 15 miles to take her there. She is a nervous animal & she loves going in. She doesn't get all shakey like she does everywhere else. Ellen & staff are always friendly and they feel like family. I'd highly recommend taken your four legged childern there!
VERY PLEASED WITH SERVICE. I highly recommend Ellen's Pampered Pet Inn for both grooming and boarding. Ellen and her staff are wonderful and always sensitive to their customer's needs. Ellen has groomed our very temperamental and somewhat neurotic white miniature schnauzer (Winston) for the past four years. Ellen was indeed brave to take on this challenge since not only does our pet have behavior problems --he has extremely sensitive skin and must never be closely shaven. Prior to using Ellen, we had unpleasant experiences with other groomers who through haste or carelessness either nicked or burned his skin while razor cutting. This is NO longer a problem - Our Winston always leaves Ellen's looking VERY handsome -- without any skin irritations whatsoever. And while I cannot say that Winston Loves to go to the Groomer (he hate's riding in a car!) - he always seems to like it once we are there!
The best pet care in town. Knowledgeable, attentive owner and staff that treats their guests like family. This cozy spot in the West University area has become a weekly resource for my little terrier, Merry, and me and I cannot say how very much it helps me to know that Ellen and her staff will treat my dog just the way I do. Merry goes for doggie day care as well as a sleepover each week. You should drop by and meet Ellen and see how special this place is.
Very pleased. I have been boarding and grooming my dog here for several years. Ellen and her staff are GREAT. Their love of animals is evident, and their prices are very reasonable. They were very accomodating and flexible when I had a problem arriving during regular business hours. They know me there, and I know they take great care of our dog. I recommend it highly.
Bob loves PPI. I have been taking my dog to PPI on Bissonnet in Houston for over 3 years now. Bob loves it. He comes back healthy and loves socializing with the other dogs. They do a great job bathing and grooming him. When Bob was younger, I always took him with me to visit friends out of town. Now he prefers the short ride to PPI and so do I.
TICKS, TICKS, TICKS. I wish I had read these reviews before now. I have been having my dog groomed at Pampered Pet Inn for 5 years, one other time I swore them off because of fleas and ticks but foolishly went back. I recently took my dog there when we had new rugs and reupholstered furniture delivered, thinking I wanted my dog cleaned and groomed on the new carpet. One week later our nightmare began, over the next 5 days we found 50+ ticks on him. This is on an indoor dog that's walked with a leash on the sidewalk. I will never step foot in the Pampered Pet Inn again.
The Pampered Pet Inn's response to cynth111's review..
To the author of this horrific injustice,
How unfair of you to make such comments about a business of which you have no current knowledge. You claim that you worked for the Pampered Pet Inn in the early 1980’s. This is not the same business that it was back in then. This particular Pampered Pet Inn has been through two other business owners since Selma Leiber and definitely operates with a higher standard than what you described. Your grievance is not with this Pampered Pet Inn and any guilt you feel towards any cruelty that may have happened 30 years ago is not my fault. How dare you make these remarks towards me and my business.
We have absolutely no ties to whatever kennel you are talking about that was located on Braeswood. This establishment may have been affiliated with it in the past, but is no longer. I am also pretty sure that the business of which you are referring to has been closed for the past 15 years at least.
We, at the Pampered Pet Inn strive to maintain an adequate amount of staff members for the amount of animals that we care for so that we can provide a safe and comfortable stay for our guests.
I am in total disbelief that someone would post such comments 30 years later without checking their facts.
Pampered Pet Inn Is Guilty of Cruelty.
I used to work for Pampered Pet Inn in the 1980's and I saw pitiful conditions there. They have a tendency to overbook for the kenneling areas and stuff animals into any cage available. A pet owner might be shown a roomy kennel but then their dog might spend hours of a day in what is literally a cramped veterinary cage especially at holiday times where they make all their cash. An animal lover working in the kennels was all but brought to tears trying to make the animals comfortable and provide for their needs, with not enough employees or help.
I spent a Christmas Eve in 1983 crying on the floor of Selma Leiber's horrific Braeswood kennel because no one was there to help me walk or medicate all the dogs and kitties and rabbits. I spent 14 hours there until I fell to the floor in exhaustiion with sweat in my eyes and tears in my face. My friends (who were not employed there), came to help me take care of the animals and walk them. The way this company did business back then should STILL be a reason to never give them your business again.
Ticks and Torture.
I have been using the Pampered Pet Inn for over a year now and had NO idea what was going on until now. I just found out that they leave the dogs unattended and inside for 12-13 hours every single day. They leave by 7 in the evening and do not return until 7 the next day... I am completely astonished to find out that half of every day I have been paying for my dog to be cared for, she has been left in the cage.
My dog also had an INSANE case of ticks that I couldn't remedy no matter how much I bathed and medicated her. I initially thought it was a problem coming from my neighborhood, but after reading all these posts, I can't believe I never realized it was the kennel. When I say "insane," I mean that I finally had her shaved at the vet and after an hour and a half of work, they had removed over 40 ticks.
Do NOT take your dog here. It's a complete mistake.
