“Although it made for some good stories, I will probably never willingly go back there.”
“The people are nice, but if I wanted to smell like smoke and see a bunch of aging people I'd go to a Baytown bar.”

Quiet, divey downtown bar with all the essentials - tons of beer on tap, darts, and specials. Good for groups.
You may get some good stories to tell.... I was talked into going here by a friend who drove by and said it looked like it was as big as Flying Saucer and had a great beer selection. We walked in and were the only ones there besides the bartender, who was smoking a cigar. He was very friendly and offered us samples of everything. There were gnats flying everywhere all over the taps, then a homeless guy walked in and was quickly asked to leave after he was being adamant about chalk and water. The bartender then pulled out a short "bam bam" bat and said he was going to push him out the door with it and then proceeded to do so. The homeless guy took the bat away from him, ran across the street waving it around, they ended up rolling around in the bushes over the bat, then my husband and friend went to help the bartender out. It was the funniest thing we ever saw, but was scary at first. The guy called the police, we all got questioned, he ended up getting committed to psych ctr and we got some free beers for helping out. Although it made for some good stories, I will probably never willingly go back there. I'm not saying it's a bad bar, just not for me.
Bring Baytown to Downtown!.
This place looks like it's out in the county somewhere. By that I mean the place is old and it stinks. literally, it smells like sewage. I also noticed that true to their ad on here, they allow smoking despite the sign outside and the city ordinance.
We just went in, had a drink, and walked out. The people are nice, but if I wanted to smell like smoke and see a bunch of aging people I'd go to a Baytown bar. Their TV's are from the late 80's also.
Sorry to sound harsh but that bar just doesn't work for that location.
This Market Square pub is a favorite among the University of Houston set..
In Short
With 35 draft beers on hand, the Tap offers beer snobs a wide variety of pricey brews to choose from. The space itself is dark, but the huge wood tables give the Tap a charming, Old-World feel. Adding to the relaxed atmosphere, dogs are as welcome as their owners--as long as they don't bite. Jukebox offerings include a variety of choices from Jane's Addiction to Aretha Franklin to Jimi Hendrix.
Great bar!. This bar is really great with a nice easy going atmosphere. The beer selection is great and it is a great place to kick back, have a good beer, and play some darts or Golden Tee!
BT regular. I have been a Brewery Tap regular for 14 years now, and I have yet to find a pub that is as welcoming as the Tap. No fights, an eclectic clientele, stimulating conversations, darts, and a cigar-friendly atmosphere combine to make the Tap an oasis in the "new" Houston downtown.
You gotta go. This is a great bar to go to, have good beer with friends, and not have to deal with the pretentiousness of other bars.
