The Place To Go For GREAT Seafood!. I love eating at Massa's! All of the food is amazing, but their Lobster Bisque is my favorite. The atmosphere is perfect for a quiet dinner with my husband or a nice night out with friends. I hear the happy hour is good too, but I have not made it in for that yet. I always have excellent service in the dining room and at the bar. I would highly recommend checking it out the next time you are downtown.

Worst Service I've Ever Had. Had never been to Massa's, but have heard people talking about how good it was. My brother was here from out of town so I thought I'd take him some place supposedly nice. Boy did we get a surprise. The service sucked. We got through the entire meal and never asked if we wanted another drink. Oh, by the way the gumbo that everyone raves about was awful. It had a chemical taste. I'll never go back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heed my warning, don't waste your time and money. I left a $2 tip. In hind-sight I wish I had left nothing.

I wish there was another one nearer to my house!. Everytime I am near downtown I got to Massas. This is one of my favorites! I am primarily a seafood eater so freshness is my main concern. These guys have THE fresh fish and seafood - and the preparation is great. My favorites are the Lobster Bisque and Seafood Gumbo, as well as the Redfish Ponchatrain special (my 14 year olds favorite is the fried shrimp). The Mango BBQ Shrimp is excellent too. I always feel I get more than I expected both in portion, service and flavor. Great contemporary wine list too! Thats why I love taking my client's there. They're never snooty and did I mention how unique the wall paintings and city-scape lamp sconces are? In the middle of the noisy downtown there is this linen table-clothed retreat to escape to and enjoy fine dining - IMHO. BTW; I love to eat in the Library Room with its wood paneling.

You get better service at your local DMV!. I have to say that my experience at Massa's was terrible. Upon entrance of the "place" I should have known that I would receive less than great service. The atmosphere was everything below dead! The waiter whom I don't remember never introduced himself but was quick to tell myself and my date what the special was several times as if we couldn't read the menu nor afford anything outside the special. After telling us the special for the fifth time ( mind you we had just sat) he rushed off to maybe to place our order, the special since we hadn't decided what we would be eating. Finally, I was able to catch him after siting for 15 minutes to tell him that we would like a glass of Zinfandel . Now he wasted no time bringing the wine. So i told my date that since we have him here let's go ahead and order, once again he suggested the Valentine's Day special. I thought this guy has got to be kidding me, but i really couldn't blame him, it was my fault. I waited to the last minute to find somewhere which i thought would have been special to take the love of my life. Well to make a long story short, lol, he brought us a cup of gumbo which seemed like mudd and as I continually picked crab shells out of my teeth i told my spouse that i had enough and to let's leave! We told the hostess that we were going to leave and we were prepared to pay for the life threatening "gumbo" that we ate, only to be rudely disrespected by the manager asking that we never come back! I can say this about Massa's or should i say Mistake, the wine was delightful! Maybe because Massa's didn't prepare it. Save your money, you do better by going to Long John Silver.
