“Never mind the value its one of the best plates in town.”
Awesome food- Great prices. Was trying to catch a quick bite before a show...never expected to sit down behind such great food. My wife had the philly chsteak and I enjoyed the house burger-both awesome. We got out of there w/dinner and drinks for right at $30. Will be back in to try out the rest of the menu.
best burgers and saturday brunch too!. we love visiting the market square Bar and grill for their great service atmosphere and yummy menu items- love the decor too- the monkey lamps are my favorite!
All the other reviews are spot on.... Finally ate there today for the first time. My girlfriend and I split a burger since we also wanted to drink a couple of beers amd not get too full. The burger was great, and even better is that they actually split it onto two plates, both with it's own condiments/fries, which I thought was super cool of them! We sat in the neat little courtyard out back, which is an amazing piece of history in itself...with the OLD surrounding brick walls! The whole building is a Houston treasure, and the kitchen is right there by the front window, so you can watch them cook from the sidewalk. Everything was very clean, from the dining room, to the outside courtyard, to the bathrooms. Prices were great. I don't give it five stars only because "it's just a hamburger" (everyone claims to have the best burger in Houston, and there's lots of good ones...just like this great one...but I've yet to find one that is over the top by any stretch), and the service was good for a "bar"...but less than enthusiastic for a "grill" (we had to go ask for menus). Perfect mix of "burger and bar", in my opinion, and I'll be back for sure!
A new tradition on Wednesday afternoon. Friends recommended this place for its burgers and they are great. But on Wednesday its Enchilada Verde, made fresh they are something to look forward to in the middle of the week. All white meat chicken and a Verde sauce as yummy as yummy can be. Spanish rice and beans on the side its a plate full. Never mind the value its one of the best plates in town. So as they say in the Windy City "Eat Early and Eat Often".
juiciest burgers in downtown. nice atmosphere, reminds you that you're in historic Houston. Try any of the burgers. the horseradish mayonaisse is phenomenal.
Delicious BURGERS!. Stopped in here after being convinced by my colleague the burgers were excellent. I had the Blue Cheese burger while he had regular cheeseburger. Delicioso! Meat juicy, flavorful and a great deal! Service was quick for a work week downtown and we will definitely be back!
Best Local Bar/Grill. We live downtown and eat regularly at Market Square . . . Maggie/Neil the waiter staff and cooks are to die for . . . they make you feel like family. Every time I go I feel as if I am in a local SOHO NYC corner bar/restaurant. A home away from home is Market Square. Nightly specials are always good. Their Porkchops would make your Momma smile they are so good. It'a a TEN for good inexpensive food.
Good old American food in a historic Houston district make this a hometown treat..
In Short
Located across from historic Market Square, Market Square Bar & Grill offers good old-fashioned cuisine with a Texas twist. Downtown Dilberts and club-hoppers alike come to enjoy the bistro's filling repast and outdoor patio. Burgers, including the popular blue cheese, are made of a fresh half-pound of 80 percent lean ground chuck. The restaurant also offers the McCool, a portobello mushroom burger that rivals Fuddruckers, and a Canadian bacon cheeseburger among its many offerings.
Best Burger in Downtown!. I'm a student at U of H - Downtown and its only a few blocks walk to this burger mecca. Burgers are flame grilled, staff is friendly, good beer selection, and even though its a bar also you dont leave reaking like smoke. Prices are good even on a students budget.
Best Hamburgers Downtown. Great burgers, excellent service by waitresses and grill personnel. so if anybody likes to enjoy a great burger or sandwich from their menu, this is the place to go, take along your sweetheart, friends or family, after visiting the Grill, everybody will agree with my review that i decided to make of this excellent place.
