Houston >Chula's Sport Cantina II
A group of five of us went there for lunch after one of our colleagues recommended the food. The Mexican food was average at best and the wings were exactly as mvillarreal describes, precooked and reheated. The food would maybe warrant a 2 star review, but it's the service that was some of the worst I had ever experienced.
First, let me point out that the restaurant was not crowded and our waitress had only our table and one more was added to her section towards the end of our meal. Now to the service....describing it as bad would be giving our service too much credit. After taking our orders initially, two separate people came back to the table on three different occasions to clarify our orders, only to end up wrong. One person ordered the Texas Nachos with no meat and they came out with beef. When it was brought to the waitress' attention, she told us she could take it back the kitchen and "scrape off the meat." This person declined and said she would be able to remove the meat herself. This same person ordered a side of sour cream, which didn't come out initially. Only after she was half-way through her meal and after two reminders, did it actually come out.
Finally the bill fiasco. Remember the beef on the nachos I mentioned before? They charged us for it and when it was brought to the managers attention, she said that we should have "let them scrape off the meat, or have them make "new" nachos." We explained that because we were out for lunch at work, that we did not have the time to have them remake the food. Only after a few minutes of a heated discussion with the manager unwilling to budge, did she finally give in and agree to change the price.
While looking at my bill, I noticed that the price charged for chips and salsa was charged incorrectly. The price on the menu - $1.99, the price charged - $2.99. This was also brought to the waitress' attention. Her response was that she couldn't make the change, so I should "just pay $8", which was $1 less than my lunch. Seemed like a good solution to her, but paying with a credit card made that option impossible. So I was charged the full price and left no tip, which is something I almost never do.
I will never be returning to this establishment due to the poor service, below average/average food and dishonest and unreasonable management. If you do decide to dine here, make sure to check you bill for pricing accuracy so you don’t get screwed out of your hard earned money, like we almost did. This begs the question, how many other unsuspecting people have overpaid for items that are mispriced on their menu?
NO THANKS!!!!. Went with a group of friends for a meal and drinks. Sorry to say the wings weren t worth the money. They tasted as if they were precooked/ extra crispy. More like chicharrones or pop corn chicken. When the 4 YOUNG ladies brought out our food, everyone of them was clueless as to what they were serving. Mind you it was wrong! We won t be returning.
DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!!. I can't even give this place any stars, the food was VERY mediocre. We ordered fried pickles & there were like 20 pickles on the plate for $6. We all ordered wings & they got 1 out of the 4 orders correct. Then when one of my friends sent hers back b/c the sauce was wrong, they just covered them with hot sauce instead of making her a new order. It literally took 4 people to reverse the credit card charge for the wrong order of wings. Once we paid our check it took almost 15 minutes to get them back. They weren't even busy!! This place is worse then Hooters!!! The boneless "wings" weren't even wings, they were more like chicken bites!!
