A pleasant surprise.. I very seldom write reviews. However, occasionally, a facility merits some kudos and this is one of those.

I was very pleasantly surprised on checking in. For the price that I paid I was not expecting the obvious conscientiousness of the staff. While the building is old it has been very well maintained. The grounds were in good shape and there was no litter. (Not an easy accomplishment in Houston!) The rooms were clean and in good repair. Even the sink and tub drains had their OEM stoppers. Our room had the microwave and refrigerator. (The only problem of note was that it needed to be defrosted which they offered to do when I mentioned it though I preferred to do it myself.) There was both wired internet and wifi. I saw no evidence of any kind of bugs whatsoever. The facilities are about a block off of the freeway so the traffic noise was muted outside and not even noticeable inside. The continental breakfast was OK (though I admit, I like fruit & eggs). The breakfast room was nice and clean and the selections were hygienically offered. They offered several types of dried oatmeal (with a microwave), breakfast rolls, cereal, bread (with a toaster), orange juice, cranberry juice and coffee. All in all I had a pleasant stay and will certainly stay at the Rodeway Inn & Suites Hwy 290 again if I return.
