Tips for Mark's American Cuisine

I've been here before in the past, and the food is nothing like it was before. BTW, they have this stupid cell phone thing there where you are not allowed to use your phone there. STUPID

Excellent food and service! The friendliness of the staff compliments the delicious meals. I love their selection of wine. A great place for a romantic date.

Always a pleasure to dine here. We have dined at some of the best restaurants in the world and Mark's is right up there in rank. The service, the food and the atmosphere never disappoint.

More Bad than Good. I've been to Mark's several times, but not in the last 2 years. It's always been great, but maybe they are getting cocky and resting on their success because this visit was an extreme disappointment.

The Good - some side dishes and the dessert was delicious, food was at proper temperature

The Bad - My entree (Pork) was bland, service was slow (took almost 10 minutes before a waiter showed up after we were seated), the table was wobbly like a cheap diner, the waiter brought and opened the wrong $90 bottle of wine, the bus boy was untrained and on top of that, we were seated in a corner next to a large table of noisy people.

The Ugly - An altogether unpleasant and forgettable experience, but it is hard to forget after paying $200 for the privilege. We won't be going back.

Love it. During my week of gastro-gluttony, I decided to spend a serious chunk of change at Mark's.

I started with the Lobster Bisque and it was full of lobster pieces and extremely rich and flavorful.

For my entree I went with the Chef's special: Half of a roasted Spiny Lobster tail, 2 large rock shrimp, a scallop and then popcorn shrimp strewn throughout.

It was delightful!

For dessert I ordered the in-house made truffles, and they too were decadent.

Even though I enjoyed my food, I seriously doubt that I will be returning. Why? Because although the food was very tasty, I really don't know that it was worth the price considering there are seafood restaurants that only serve seafood at nowhere near the price that Mark's is charging!

Overpriced. I will not be returning to this restaurant. I visited Mark's with 4 girlfriends. We were all astounded by the prices so we were expecting quite a fabulous meal. My meal was sub standard. The meat was almost all fat and I should have sent it back. The waiter was somewhat arrogant at times. I give them an A+ on atmosphere, but the total package is not worth the effort.

Decent Dinner. I went here with my boyfriend for our anniversary dinner, and to tell you the truth, it wasn't as what I expected. It was nice, cozy and it is actually pretty cool the fact that the restaurant was an old church. but I was bit disappointed because the day that we went there for dinner, their choices on the menu were mostly seafood which my boyfriend does not eat. But other than that, our server was nice and funny and he did take care of us. It was just a little weird to me because I have been to many fine dinning in Houston and When they give out a steak or when they serve the food, they usually ask us if the meat is cooked the way how they want it before they leave, but they didn't at Mark's. It was not the greatest service I have ever had, but it was good enough.

Over all, our server was sweet, the food was good and we had a quiet and decent dinner.

not impressed. Took a date there last year for what was supposed to be a great meal at Houston's most romantic restaurant. we were seated near the kitchen door and had constant traffic by our table. Service was slow and not very attentive. Quite dissapointed.

Great place, great meal. This was my first trip to Marks and it is my new favorite restaurant. The menu choices are unique and outstanding while the service was fast and efficient. We had several entrees and appetizers and each was prepared and served flawlessly. The wine list was impressive and was not priced too outrageously. I can not think of anything that was less than excellent about our experiences.
