STAY AWAY! While reading the other reviews I feel better that I was not the only one that was taken advantage of. This doctor was very manipulating and when she insisted I come back 3 times I knew there would be a nice bill. When explaining to the doctor about the fear of the bill she exclaimed "well that is what insurance is for", yet she failed to mention my insurance was not affiliated with her practice from the beginning. The whole time I visited this place they just kept injecting me not to mention giving me 3 cat scans in 24 hours, each visit and I only got worse causing me to have a $20,000 bill at the end. This place needs to go out of business and this doctor needs to stop taking advantage of people!
DO NOT GO HERE, The place was nice, and they staff only tries to get as much money out of you by pumping you with meds for them to charge insurance, they are trying to scam people. My girlfriend went here and all they did is pump here full of relaxers and then charged here 400 dollars up front, then she received another bill for 500 more even after they said there wouldnt be more charges. Now she is making payments but they are not taking into consideration and keep charging her for the original amount. AGAIN BE WARNED DO NOT GO HERE.
The facility may be very nice because it is fairly new, but the service is terrible. I went there to get a couple of simple sutures on my foot. They collected $200 as copay up front which my insurance then confirm to me that I had no copay for emergencies. The front person didn't show any concern on why I was there for. My sutures were done by a doctor from Egypt training here in the US (with good bedside manners) under the supervision of Dr. Luna (she's the one getting paid). This Dr. has no bedside manners and seems very manipulative. She interrupted the Egyptian Dr. to clean my wound like she was scraping floors and even said she was very rough when cleaning and closing wounds because she simply did it everyday. The fees they charge are extremely ridiculous, I can't believe so much money was paid to this doctor and facility for such a simple procedure which she managed to mess up. I had a simple cut which she turned into a huge black bruise. Don't go there, they just care for the money not the patients or service they provide.
They hid as I collapsed on sidewalk!. Sat 11/5, around 8 pm home having severe trouble breathing. Went to Kroger and Walgreen's to buy an OTC inhaler (they don't have those anymore, btw.) started stumbling and dizzy. Drove to "24-hour" River Oaks Emergency Center (stupid idea to drive, but very close), parked right in front, and when I stumbled to the door, the receptionist left her desk and ran to the back, as in hiding. Doors locked. I tried to buzz in and ended up collapsed on their chic sidewalk. Called 911. Major hysterics but dispatcher kept me from losing consciousness. HFD appeared and I felt like they saved my life. Got to Methodist by ambulance. Parents called. Finally stabilized. Declined overnight stay and parents took me home but first stopped to get my car from the clinic around midnight--guess what? Receptionist back at her desk! WTH??? I'm looking into if this is JCAHO regulated. This place needs to be shut down.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE - STAY AWAY!!!.
I went there and met with a DR. HAMILTON and a nurse named ORVEN . After explaining I had no insurance but could pay the co-pay, I was brought back and looked at.
Dr. Hamilton was very insincere and dismissive. They took my temp (100), blood pressure and and listened too me breathe.
She told me I was fine with the breathing, even though it felt like knives in my chest and back and even though I was short of breath.
She then left the room after explaining that they didn't think I could afford the payments. I asked the Nurse for her name and he only gave me the manager's.
He told me that I DIDN'T NEED TO KNOW HER NAME because I was " Dismissed". I told him that I felt I had a right to know who treated me. He finally gave in after a few minutes and told me her name; which may not even be real for all I know.
I then asked for his and he refused to give me his last name. He was quite snide and then tried giving me a guilt trip by saying, " This is what I get for helping."
I then replied, " Oh yeah, you all really seem to care."
They were very shady and only seemed to care about money. I intend to email the people that run it and also The Houston Press.
It is not normal to run a high fever and have chills for more than 4 days and I feel like I was tossed to the side because of stupid bureaucracy.
I would avoid this place unless you have good insurance and even then I would be very wary of the service they provide. They are clearly all about money and barely seem to care about actually working to help others.
Update 7/9/11:
This is Knorm again. I just wanted to follow up on my review. I just got out out of Ben Taub hospital today after spending 4 days and 3 nights with PNEUMONIA that I am still fighting.
This just goes to show how scary it is that Dr. Hamilton just blew me off.
What scares me the most is if I had listened to her I would have been in far worse shape.
I am going to report her to the board of medicine or whoever I need to. Her carelessness could have killed me.
Don't go to River Oaks Emergency Center!!.
I agree with ldmeyer2 who posted above me. Nice place, but you better be really sick before trying this place.
My son fell off a swing set on a Saturday in February 2011 and ended up getting a HUGE bump on his head. I ended up taking him to this facility because it was on Saturday and his PCP's office was closed. We were there for about 30 minutes, the physician and nurse looked at him a few times, I paid a $100 and we went on our way.
Fast forward almost two months and I received an EOB from Aetna today saying I owe these people nearly $1000. The Dr. didn't even clean up his scrapes on his knees. She even called me the day we went in and said she completely forgot to clean him up. What's that about? I called that Dr. today and she said, "any emergency room you go to will charge the same or more". She also said the reason she didn't clean his wounds is because she was more concerned about his head. These people just observed him for a few minutes and sent us on our way.
Don't go here, unless you absolutely have to. Go to a regular emergency room.
Excessive fees. This is a beautiful facility with wonderful employees. But you better be very very sick or close to dieing if you go here. Their fees are extreemly high.
