Just a Bar. I wish I could rate this place as a half of a star. I purchased a $25 certificate for a nice meal on the strand and was greatly dissapointed. The place was clean and had a few customers but not one person was eating - bad sign. Tis was around 6pm on a Saturday evening. The Strand was full of people!! There were no tables setup for meals (salt& pepper shakers, catsup etc.) I didn't even smell food in this place. Everyone was sitting around drinking. It was demly lit. I walked in and all the customers looked at me like "what are you doing in here?" I left the place and I want my money back for the certificate. It should be removed from the list as a restaurant.

Go somewhere where they appreciate customer. We were greeted by a friendly hostess to a COMPLETELY empty restaurant at noon on a warm Saturday. We had a restaurant . com coupon for $25 that we bought 2 days earlier but the manager refused to accept it. After deciding whether to leave or stay anyway, I literally had to debate and negotiate with him that he needs to take up the issue with restaurant . com; not the ONLY guests that the coupon brought into the restaurant. He finally agreed to give us $10 off the bill because that is what we paid for the coupon. Well, we should have went somewhere else. THe fried pickels were good but the rest was terrible. NO garnish on the bloody mary, no straw for the strawberry daqueri, horrible mac and cheese and the po boy was gross. The server was nice but not well trained. We are local and will not be returning.

not cool with strand bar and grill. I was going to my neighborhood eatery on the Strand in Galveston for a bite and conversation with friends this past weekend. At the gate into Dickens, I was told to pony up 12 bucks for the privledge of accessing my neighborhood eatery. I am not cool with this surcharge and I am not cool with the businesses that go along with this policy. I'm a regular that lives there and put money in their hand when the tourist all go home.

Don't bother looking at the menu. Don't even bother looking at the menu. We have been there several times and it seems that 75% of the stuff on the menu is not available. We've gone for lunch during the week, lunch on the weekend, dinner on the weekend. Doesn't matter when we go, but they NEVER have what we want (either our 1st choice, 2nd choice, 3rd choice)... we really want to like this place, great location on the Strand and a nice atmosphere inside, but not having any food that we are interested in eating is getting old.
