Houston >Studio 8 Tattoo
I've had over 60 hours of tattoo work done at this shop. I'm friends with most everyone that works there by now, so I'll be upfront in saying that my review is probably not as un-biased as a new person that just walked in. Before I give my review though, I think Bubbles Good needs clarification on basic business principles.
* You didn't leave a deposit. Did they say they wouldn't be able to get to your tattoo ever, or just that day? Yeah, that's what I though. See, the artist was already working on another piece for a client that, in all likelihood - had already paid a deposit and was paying by the hour. From your post is says you only received the drawing and left no deposit. MANY times, the drawing needs to be reviewed by the potential client and either revised or touched up so it matches their exact expectations. Additionally, the artist probably wanted the appropriate amount of time to review the sketch with you and - you hadn't paid. The person in the chair already had left a deposit and was paying for the hours they had put in that day...what do you expect someone to do, kick out a paying customer just because you requested a sketch?
*** Have you ever been to a restaurant where they kicked out seated paying customers, just because your reservation was at 7? Ur not speshul...er, maybe.
Maybe there's more to it, I wasn't there. That said, a little understanding on your part about basic business principles probably would have gone a long way. If you didn't leave a deposit, you didn't even pay for the time to make the drawing (which was probably a couple of hours at least) - so you're ENTITLED to nothing.
Any business has a right to refuse service to anyone for any reason. I know these guys personally. And I can honestly say this would NEVER happen, unprovoked or to a courteous person. I've never seen anyone treated disrespectfully in that shop. I'm pretty sure demanding a drawing that took the artist several hours and cost you 0 isn't avoiding provocation - at least not to those of us that work for a living.
All that said, I have had so many hours of work done at this place for a reason - they are exceptional artists. If you want the best, go to the best. Yes, you have to actually PAY for the work you get, its not a tattoo charity where they hand out free sketches and ink - but you get more than you paid for. If you don't mind booking your appointment, taking a few minutes to review the sketch with the artist to make sure its perfect, and leaving a deposit so they know you'll be back for your apt., then you will be more than pleased and have no issues with your appointment time.
Worse Customer Service Ever!!!!!!. OMG!!! Never go here, I was set to have a tatt done and went in and talked to a artist...he gave me a time, date, and price so we set it up. When I got there he was already working on another client and said it would be a hour, so i said OK and went to get lunch. I then called and was told it would not be possible for that day, This was the manager talking to me on the phone, i tried to explain the situation and he bacame very abrubt and abrasive, he said i didnt put down a deposit so I had no right to say anything, he then very firmly and abravsily told me to go elsewhere. I had to go up there to obtain my drawing and he threatened to cal the police if I and myfriend didnt leave. The friend with me was a male and the manager stated he would meet him on the sidewalk if he wanted to continue to stay in the salon. The manager stated I was lying and confused as most customers are. he would not calm down enough to just listen to what happened during the conversation with his artist. That is not how managers respond to customer situations. I know everyone feels they are in the right but I never raised my voice nor did my friend. we were not rude or aggressive towards the manager.I went to another salon down the road and got my tatt in 45 mins with kindness and was welcomed from the staff....PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS SALON!!!!
