Pleasant outdoor seating. Unfortunately, there are few places to eat around the Museum of Natural Science, so we stopped in here. It's counter order, and you "build" your own taco, salad or whatever with your choice of ingredients. The menu is not that ambitious, but the place does not pretend to be anything other than a taco place. It would be nice if they had a bus boy or someone clean up the tables & outdoor area. We had to clear off an outdoor table to eat at, and there were only a handful of patrons in the place. Prices were reasonable. Outdoor seating was very pleasant.

luckilly this place exists :). It's so good this place exists...without it there would be no place to eat in the museum district.

It's a very casual place with simple food but I like it.

Food is tasty and the customer creates it by himself so no problem if you don't like this or that...

They have plenty of tables outside which I like cause it gives some difference to being all the time in air condition.

And...THEY HAVE THE BEST MARGARITA I ever drank:):) It's super good!

Citysearch Editorial Review. Within walking distance of Hermann Park, the museums and the Plaza Professional Building, this counter service taco shop is deliverance from the dearth of restaurants in the area. Once you're under the canopy of oaks and through the festive Mexican décor, the menu at the ordering station is a bit overwhelming. First, you must pick your “pallet,” taco, burrito, nachos, tostadas and bowl among them, then meat and topping options, not to mention the dozen salsas, from ancho honey to avocado ranch, on top of that. The full bar and popular margaritas sweeten the deal. Although it’s not necessarily a destination restaurant, Bodegas serves its neighborhood well.

Your alternative to Chipotle. When I lived in DC I thought it was hilarious that people would say 'Let's go get Mexican' and then suggest Chipotle. Or Baja Fresh. I'm a native Houstonian, so maybe I have some affliction or take insult to that. Nonetheless, I do love me a buffet taco shop. Add fresh fruit margaritas and a tub o' queso and, well, who wouldn't swoon?!

My first visit to Bodegas ended in a 2nd visit just hours later. It's super convenient to Herman Park, MFA, HMNS ... and my office. We strolled down on a pretty day at lunch, got the 3 taco option [which I knew would be too much - I just need 2, please]. And I was BLOWN AWAY by the almost overwhelming salsa options. I just asked them to choose. Perfect.

That's when I noticed the Houston Press award for Best Margaritas. *mental note*

Food was great. Suggested to a friend we grab a drink pre-U2 concert that evening since it was right by the rail. I had the Tamarind Margarita. YUM. I also had a HUGE queso. DOUBLE YUM. I was REAL happy at the concert. And have returned a couple times for lunch tacos. Hoping for lunch ritas soon. ;-)

Amazing Margaritas. We dined at Bodega's for the first time last week and had a fabulous time. Since we had a big lunch we planned on just trying the margaritas. Jessica at the bar was super friendly describing all of the different options she could make for us. We tried a frozen house and a rocks margarita with grapefruit juice. They were both excellent and came with free chips and salsa during happy hour. We decided to go ahead and get some real food to absorb the alcohol as we moved on to our 2nd ritas. Nachos with carnitas and the works were great and more than enough for 2. Thanks for a wonderful evening.
