“The people at the front desk were very inviting and made me feel very comfortable, and Kerri was very personable and did an excellent job with my haircut.”
OMG-What A Treasure. I was given a Gift Certificate for Valentine's Day to The Conservatory. I am usually anxious about new places when it comes to my hair and nails. I could not have been more pleased . Everything was flawless from making my appointment until my day was complete. I walked in the entrance and my jaw dropped. What a beautiful place. It looks good, smells good, and the services were up to the same level . My haircolor has never looked better and my cut is just as I described to my stylist. What a treasure and it is close to home.
Beautiful place, Outstanding service!.
I just have to say...royalty treatment with the personal treatments by an always friendly staff.
The Conservatory raises the bar so much for even haircuts, I could only imagine the negative reviews they get are from jealous salons.
Simple put, you will not find a better salon/spa in Houston!
Keep Looking.
I find it extremely strange that my prior review of this salon is nowhere to be found on the internet. I want to warn people about this salon. First of all, this salon prides itself on being "environmentally friendly". Why then did they abandon a perfectly nice salon when they were located in the strip center on 494? Maybe it's because it was a strip center & that was 'beneath them'? Instead, they built a brand new facility with bamboo flooring, etc, etc. The materials & energy to build this new salon was not as environmentally friendly as taking advantage of an older, vacant building. (And I'm not a hippie chic either - Just an observation to something they pride themselves in).
Secondly, the front desk staff are very snobby. Ladies, you are working at a front desk. You are the first sight when clients walk in the door. How 'bout starting off with a genuine smile & invitation? I have gotten along just fine with the front desk before, but I felt that I had to give them a 'better-than-thou' front to seem worthy of their conversation. How silly, right?
Thridly, the hair service..... I went in for a root touch-up. I paid $90 for a PARTIAL root TOUCH UP! (No blow-dry). My hair did not even look touched at all. I still had at least 2 inches of dark roots in prominently noticeabe areas. I was disgusted that they could charge so much for a touchup for my thin, shoulder-length hair. I have not been back.
Hair services are becoming ridiculously overpriced. It amazes me how much some women will pay to get a temporary hair fix. If you are going to pay anyone to color or cut your hair, I don't recommend this place.
I used to regularly go to The Conservatory when they were located in the strip center & had better prices. If the girl who I used to see still worked there, then I'd probably still be a client, because she was wonderful.
Also.... Beware of the plethora of positive reviews for this salon. I have noticed an overwhelming number of reviews that all read very similarly/same vocabulary/same punctuation, etc. Maybe this is what the front desk staff are doing in their spare time? Anyway... I also received an email recently from this salon saying "We miss you. Come visit us soon" with a link that you can click on to review their salon. I find it interesting that they encourage people to send reveiws of their salon THROUGH them. I assume this allows them to filter out the bad reviews before they are posted on the world wide web...
ALSO... Notice the usernames of the previous reviews. They are all similar. Then, click on their username for reviews of other places. There aren't any reviews for other places. (Unless they've updated that now. ha). What are we? Dumb?
By all means, feel free to give this salon a try. You may have a better experience than I did last time. Maybe they have improved their services after seeing some negative reviews online? And I'm sure that not ALL of their stylists suck.
P.S. Last time I published this review, I received a reply a few days later from someone who claimed to be the owner's granddaughter, scolding me for writing a bad review about her grandmother's salon. I'm sorry, but I have to be honest.
EDIT:
To be fair... The price isn't bad considering that they offer you a drink while you're there, have a nice atmosphere & give you a neck/head massage followed by a hot towel when they wash your hair. (Although, i was not offered that last time, they usually do). Now, if my hair had turned out just right, THEN the price might have been worth it.
Reputation. I came here upon a referral, Just having moved here and not knowing many people i asked around. Alot of people travel from Kingwood to the Galleria area or Houston area, but i wanted to try someplace local. When I first walked in I thought wow, then i was ignored at the desk, and when they finally acknowledged me, whoa!!!! RUDENESS, I should have left right then, but i went ahead. I am not going to name any names, but , let's just say i will not return, once my hair returns to a normal length, i think i will go in to the galleria area where they are a little more, lets just say current!
The Best Experience at a Salon in Over 40 Years!!!. My 1st impression on my very 1st visit to the salon was that I loved this place & could not believe I had not discovered it sooner. I like the promptness of the staff; the no-children allowed unless they are there for an appointment themselves; the stylists are not distracted by answering personal cell phones or the staff/stylists are not distracted by chatting with each other with personal conversations. Also liked the cleanliness of the whole salon. This has been the best experience at a salon that I have ever had in over 40 years of being a patron of hair/beauty salons. It is one of the few places I can go and completely relax without hearing other people's cell phones ringing & having to endure their unnecessary loud conversations. Please keep up the pleasant atmosphere! Kerri is always on time & she always goes into detail explaining coloring or how much hair to cut. She always says it is best to cut less as she can always trim it a bit more if I want. I appreciate her taking the time to make sure it is not cut too short. I like that.
The Epitome of a Service-Oriented Business. I have been a customer forever it seems- The Conservatory is the epitome of a service-oriented business. I never expect less than a stellar experience because I have never had less than that! We are lucky to have some terrific local businesses in Kingwood, and the Conservatory is one of the best. I am always happy to come in for an appointment- and I have never been disappointed when I leave. Thank you!
NEVER had a bad experience!!!. My last visit was a fantastic experience but it ALWAYS is; "Y"all do so wonderfully every time!!! The quality of this salon / spa is just awesome. They strike the perfect balance of being polished while being so friendly and always welcoming. I have NEVER had a bad experience and have been going there for years! Thank you!!!
I look forward to my haircut every time!!. : I look forward to my haircut every time!! The relaxing scalp massage followed by the shampoo & head massage are so relaxing and wonderful. I'm a teacher and surrounded by children at work and home. When I come in for a haircut, I look forward to the peace and quiet of my 30 minutes away!! Billie gives me just that every time. She just seems to understand exactly what I want and she does it!!! I know that when she's all finished I'll feel polished and as good as new again. She doesn't pressure me into buying a bunch of products either, which is nice. She offers, tells me what kinds of products she uses on me, but doesn't make me feel like I have to buy anything extra. I highly recommend the Conservatory and Billie!!
A Wonderful Experience at Every Visit. This was my second visit- I am very satisfied with the services provided. You have gained a loyal client!! Thanks so much for the attention to detail and professional, friendly services. It's been a wonderful experience at each visit, and I will definitely recommend The Conservatory to friends and business contacts
Perfect start to Spring Break. This was the perfect start to Spring Break, a relaxing massage in a beautifully comfortable environment. I feel completed rejuvenated! I would recommend a massage at the Conservatory to anyone who is feeling tired, stressed, sluggish, or just wants some quiet time. Shannon is a wonderful caregiver with plenty of attention to us and with helpful, professional tips to relax. I couldn't have asked for a better morning!
