I attempted to eat here for my best
friend's birthday. Upon entering, the ambiance was nice and the bartenders served me right away. Once the rest of the guests arrived, we were seated at a table where we ordered drinks, and our server took our orders. We had to share menus since the server didn't offer each of us a menu, and he seemed annoyed when we asked for more menus. He never checked on our table, and when he finally returned, he asked us if we were ready to order. We all sat puzzled because he had just taken our order 20 minutes earlier! He did not put our food order in, and his excuse was that he was waiting for the rest of our party to arrive. However, we told him to put all of our orders in immediately and that we were not waiting for others to arrive before we order and eat.
We asked to speak with the manager and decided not to order any food at all. The owner came to our table, and we explained the situation. He was very rude, and he never apologized for the incident! As the birthday girl was expressing to him how disappointed we all were, the owner told her that she was being disrespectful and walked off! He then told the hostess to handle the situation! Completely unprofessional! So, we wasted an hour and a half and didn't get to eat anything. Plus the server told us that the margarita machine was broken, and the owner did not have enough money to have it fixed.
This restaurant ruined my best friend's birthday, and we had to go elsewhere to find something to eat at 9:00 at night. I will definitely never try this restaurant again, and I do not recommend that anyone go there, ever! Poor service and overpriced menu!
My favorite Mexican restaurant. This is
not the typical Tex-Mex that I have gotten tired of. ...finally, Houston/Sugar Land has an Authentic Mexican restaurant. To top it off, the atmosphere is upscale and the service is amazing. I highly recommend this restaurant.
My favorite dish (so far) is the Pescado Azteca.
Favorite appetizer both, the lobster as well as the mango habenero guacamole.
Favorite Dessert: "Budding" (bread pudding)
Favorite Drink: Santiago Sangria & the Entourage
I happened to go with a co-worker since we were desiring to eat "Mexican" (which Houston consists mostly of Tex-Mex, not authentic Mexican) and my co-worker had heard of Diego's so we decided to skip out on the usual and try somewhere new. Diego's is in a great location, right off of Hwy 6 near 59. It was extremely easy to find ; parking either ground level or open above ground was available. The restaurant area are on both sides of the bar (separates the casual cocktail from the sit-ins) and the entire place over looks Sugar Land (since it's on the 3rd floor, elevators are available and quick). To begin with, the lunch special includes everything you could possibly itemize; drinks, soup and salad, entree and to top it off desert! We met "Mama", which is the owner, such a wonderfully talented woman, she personally brings you some of the meal and is extremely friendly. Our waitress, Sarah, was so knowledgeable about the history of the dishes, the recipes...she knows more than me and I'm Mexican ;-) The meals consist of fresh vegetables, fruits, etc. It's like traditional/authentic Mexican (native Mayan) with an exotic flare. Just delicious! You can stuff your face and not feel sick since everything is fresh and cooked with olive oil, not LARD! Just excellent, will definitely take my parents who are Mexican and everyone else I know.
Are you serious?.
I was so excited to introduce this place to my friends. Amazing decor & nice staff. Food? DISGUSTING.
The food literally tasted like it was bought from cheap fast food restaurant. No freshness at all. Forget freshness, it had no taste!
No one, out of the 17 girls i was with, were satisfied.
Horrible Service.
This place has over 20 staff and they can't still provide a normal service to 5 tables. Very unprofessional and some rude staff. The place is nicely designed but the service and food quality deserves 1 star if not minus 2.
I don't recommend this place to anyone and will never go back.
Diegos Where Have You Been All My Life!. If there was such a thing as food porn Diego's creates it! I film many upscale restaurants in the Houston area, and everyone has its niche and style, but I was wowed by the presentation, and the decadent blend of aromas and flavors. Jay himself is quite the creative bartender working some of that nuvo molecular magic serving up to 65 blends of tequilas. This isn't Tex Mex this is true continental Mexican dining, and while it is upscale its casual, and surprisingly affordable! You also can't beat the view of the lake. Great place for date night!
