Houston >Prohibition, Craft of Cocktails
Everything was wonderful, although the
drinks weren't that great. They were a bit too sour weren't en-joyful although the atmosphere was beyond amazing, as well as the show.
Will never give them any more of my money.
I will never return to this place again. We (party of 6) made reservations to see a Burlesque show for my husband's birthday. We were quickly escorted in to our seats which was good. Our waitress came over to take our drink order and everyone received their drinks beside my husband and I. 20 minutes later, we saw the waitress again and let her know that we hadn't received our drinks. She left, came back and said that there was a printer error and that she sent the drink order in again. It didn't make a lot of sense considering we placed our order at the same time as the other people in our party but we blew it off. Our drinks were finally brought over and the manager came to see us. He told us that another table had received our drinks and they had to be remade. So, two things here...our waitress was obviously lying and they didn't bother to offer any comps, even though we waited over 30 minutes for two drinks.
The drinks were absolutely terrible. Wow. My husband had a Mai Tai 33 and I had a white bison. His drink was hands down the worst drink I have ever tasted in my entire life. My white bison, was unstirred and the kahlua was nowhere to be found in the drink. The other people in my party ordered drinks too and it soon became a joke between all of us to try other drinks to see which one could be worse. Unbelieveable.
Then, a party of obviously wealthy people came in and were seated at the couches in front of us and the stage. The burlesque show started and they would not sit down, blocking us from a good portion of the show. We asked our waitress to ask them to sit down and she told us that she couldn't, inferring that they were extremely rich and therefore untouchable. Again, absolutely unbelievable and considering we weren't terribly impressed with her waitressing skills, she was probably scared about her tip if she went over to say anything to them. What she should have been scared of was us, because not only did none of my party tip her, she now gets this lovely review. Apparently, having money in Prohibition allows you to act like a complete jackass with no fear of repercussions, even though it's at the expense of other people. Nice. Thanks, Prohibition for ruining what began as a wonderful birthday.
Our waitress was terrible and didn't really seem that bright. Blonde girl, shorter hair, dark eyeliner. If you see her, ask for another section.
As far as the burlesque show, I wouldn't recommend it either. It's not really a show. The girls come out, dance for approximately a minute and leave for 10-15 minutes. Out of an hour and a half, we probably got about 10-15 minutes of solid "dancing." If you call moving your hands, occasionally throwing a kick and removing your gloves with your teeth, dancing.
To me, this club is overpriced and seems to cater to people who want to be seen. These people also includes those who have more money than sense and who can't recognize crap in the form of an overpriced "mixed" drink. The music is not authentic, more of a DJ mix than anything in the actual time period.
Super disappointed in this place. You can make something trendy and modern but if you treat your customers like crap you can't expect to last long. I will never return to this place and I certainly won't recommend it to our friends. 3 terrible drinks, 31 dollars and an awful experience later, we can honestly say this was the worst place we've ever been to.
