Decent enough Tex-Mex food with outstanding Margaritas. I really enjoy the ballpark nachos as well.

On the side: tres leches, discounts. On the + side: tres leches, discounts for Montrose, frito pie burger, and the setting with lights strewn above the ceiling and old movies playing on the wall. This is old school tex-mex. The queso and frozen margs are delicious.

A colorful hot spot for old-school Tex-Mex that's as heavy as it is tasty. Wash it all down with the "No Minors" milk shake.
Meh....
The food isn't bad, but it's just overpriced ordinary Tex-Mex food. I think Chuy's and Cafe Adobe (which are also in the area) are better and cheaper.
The ambiance is nice and unique. The restaurant kept the old movie theatre screen and were playing a classic movie when we went (sound was off, no subtitles). Service was ok. We probably won't go back.
This place is horrible--over priced & gross. I wish I could give zero stars for this place. There is NOTHING real about this "cafe". OVERPRICED and the blandest tex-mex food you will ever eat. Save your time and your money. It's really a shame though because the decor and location are great--the food is just bad. You can find much better authentic Mexican and Tex-Mex food and much better prices at any other restaurant on Westheimer.
NOT San Antonio Style. Having grown up in San Antonio, we were very excited when we heard advertisements about this restaurant offering "San Antonio style" Mexican food. We were disappointed. The puffy tacos were not characteristic of the type served in south San Antonio. Here they were filling and less greasy, but lacked the type and texture of San Antonio masa found at El Rancho, Jakala, and El Tipaco, S.A. restaurants in business there for 50 years. More disappointing were the enchiladas. S.A. style has red tortillas...thats the only way we know them. These were bland filled with velveeta-like cheese. Too overly cheesy, and unlike S.A. There were non-typical Mexican items on the menu, but we opted for the Tex-Mex offerings. On the positive, Jesus our waiter was exceptional. Very attentative, but not overly so and helpful with the menu selections. As recommended, we split the enchilada plate and puffy taco plate to get a taste of both. The decor is nice and well planned. The margaritas - very good, actually very very good!
