Tips for Pure Zen Therapy

April 23, 2013

The new location is a definite upgrade from the previous one. The office space is nice and has definitely more of a spa feel.

Unfortunately, the quality of services and staff haven't followed the same trend.

I went to get a massage with a CrowdSavings (paid) coupon for $49 and was told that I needed to pay an extra $45 (down from $60, the receptionist was being nice to me).

The staff had no way of telling whether I paid for this deal or not. I had brought my voucher but they barely glanced at it telling me they couldn't do anything with it.

It took 3 staff members to discuss whether or not I had paid for this deal. I fumbled with my phone for 10 minutes to show additional proofs of payment and the staff reluctantly agreed I had paid.

I emailed the manager about this issue and haven't heard back. I really doubt I was the first customer with that kind of voucher and the staff seemed to be completely unable to handle the vouchers. I don't know whether it is a training issue or a plain scam but this needs to be addressed by management.

The massage itself was also lackluster. The music the therapist chose to play was pop songs, and she truly didn't have a therapist touch.

Needless to say, I doubt I'll ever be back, coupon or not. I just want to share my experience so the next customer doesn't end up paying double for their massage.

WORST SPA EVER! Don't waste your time or money. If it's too good to be true, $99 for a couples massage, then it probably itsn't true! We were trying to redeem our livingsocial voucher we got for Valentine's Day, but they said they don't have a Saturday available until May 4, 2013. "Lisa", the manager was very rude to me when I told her that I wasn't comfortable giving my credit card number along with security code for my Credit card. She told me that I should just try to get a refund from living social or that I didn't need to come in at all. I called living social and found that we were no longer eligible for a refund because they only give that within 7 days. Living social IS AWARE of the bad service here, but continue to run their promotions. Lisa was rude, insulting and uncoopertive. I will never step foot in that establishment. You couldn't pay me to receive their "services".

We ordered Living Social vouchers just to try it out since we saw a few decent reviews a few months boefore. They cancelled our first appointment an hour before it was scheduled so we willingly rescheduled to today (Saturday) and basically turned down any plans this weekend so that we could have a relaxing time together (which we would quickly discover would NOT be the case..

On the way there my husband told me laughingly that when he had worked with the employee by phone a few days ago for our appointment to be rescheduled, he had asked if he would have a preference of chosing a male or female for the service. Her answer: "Oh yea, you will either have a male or a female." .....?

We arrived at a office building and had to have a building tenant open the door for us. When we showed up at the location the door was locked and no one answered although we knocked many times. Their office hours stated they were still open so we began calling and they finally answed the phone after calling about nine times. I asked them if they could unlock the door since my husband and I were already now late for our appointment after waiting for 10 minutes at their door.

When we walked in they had no record of our appointment and seemed very confused as to why we were even there and actually seemed bothered to help us. The woman asked for our name and said our appointment was cancelled the week before. My husband explained to the woman that someone had called him and asked if we could reschedule due to an emergency and we agreed for this date. The woman then began calling somone and walked away without saying anything. We were then greeted by a very nice & polite male employee who asked our names and if we had been helped and we said we weren't sure because the first woman had just walked away and we were assuming she was helping. He then went to check with her and we were then greeted by a different female employee who we then had to tell her our names as she checked in the system and explain the situation to again. The first woman returned to the lobby, stood there for a moment, and approached us again as if she forgot we were there. She walked over, looked at the calendar, looked up at us and said "I am sorry this all worked out this way." At this point I hadnt said anything, nothing was getting resolved, and I had lost my patience so I asked if she could give me the manager's name and contact information and I would pursue a refund and speak with her. The woman handed me a business card and circled the business's phone number (yes, the one I had now about memorized by heart by dialing so many times just to get in the office), asked me for my name AGAIN (4th time we had to give our name now) so she could write it on the card, and said the manager will call me. I asked for the manager's name and a direct contact number for her and she gave me the woman's name and said she couldnt give out her number.

I thanked her and no one said anything in return to us so we left. WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!!! PATHETIC! MCDONALDS OF MASSAGES!

This place is unbelievable! I came to Pure Zen 2010 and became a regular for massage therapy, but when I heard they where opening a salt therapy room I was so excited,

I have done my own research about halotherapy, because I have asthma problems from the smog in Houston ..Nothing seemed to help like my salt room session at the Pure Zen

I am breathing easier and I am planning to do this more often.

Best Massage EVER. I purchased the Zen Chi Massage from groupon and I have to say this was the best massage I have ever had in my life.

I have traveled around the world and got many massages, my massage therapist... A diamond in the rough, the massage was very detailed just what the dr. ordered.

The staff was very professional and helpful with any questions I had.

Terribe management. I purchased a Travel Zoo coupon in Sept. The first available appointment was in Dec. I figured that would be ok to help relieve Christmas shopping stress. I live almost an hour from the location. I went to the address on my receipt which showed suite 400. The door was locked and had a sign posted that said "Latino Massage" and gave a phone number. I called that number and they said they were not affiliated with Pure Zen. Later I looked on the Pure Zen website and called. I was told they had moved to suite 203. I was not notified of that. It seems like they should have had a sign at 400 referring customers to the change. I explained that I would be off work for the next week if they could work me in. She said she would have her manager call me. At the end of the next week, I had not received a call so I called back. The same lady told me the manager was swamped with calls and hadn't had a chance to get back with me. She said they had sold over 900 coupons and they are not a "big corporation" so I would have to be patient. I said since they weren't a big corporation, they shouldn't have sold more than they could honor. I told her I would like a refund since I wouldn't be able to come in later. She said that probably wouldn't happen but that I would have to talk to Travel Zoo. Her tone was very rude and impatient. I called back about 30 minutes later to try to get her name. Someone named Karen answered and said she was the manager. She sounded exactly like the person I had been talking to both previous times. When I explained that I was calling to get the name of the person I had talked to because she was rude, she was a little more helpful and tried to sound like she was not who I talked to earlier.

I was still told that I had 3 options. I could get on a waiting list for another appointment, get a credit to use there later, or talk to Travel Zoo to see about a refund.

I am very frustrated.

Girls Day Disappointment. We planned this Girls Day out for over a month. We were scheduled for a 10:00 a.m. massage. We arrived to find out one appt. was 10:00 and the other at 2:00 p.m. Aftering waiting to speak with the Owner to be told they had been very busy and somehow a mistake had been made, I explained I tried calling twice the wk before but did not rec. a return call. The Owner was not apologetic and the only suggestion made was to keep the standing appointment where one person would receive an abbreviated massage seeing that we had waited 20 minites and another at 2:00. The most postive part of this experience was Faith who worked at the front desk she tried very hard to see if there was anything that could be done to make the experience a positive one to no avail. Unforthunately, I would not recommend this establishment to any of my friends with the owner having such poor Customer Service towards her patrons.
