British service to boot.
We have enjoyed three meals (over past several months) at this great pub. the interior is tastefully decorated and very comfortable. When we think of our date night we think of the Queen Vic. Great food that is tasty and with understated presentation, it is a lovely meal.
Unfortunately the service is sketchy. But I will take that being a brit. We have received Outstanding service, ok service and then bad service. So average is OK service.
How about some service?. the service...unacceptably inattentive...bad enough that I will never go back...I really like Rick and Shiva...yet...I will not go back to Queen Vic.
Houston we have a gastropub...and cocktail bar!. Went last week with some friends and had a blast. I was not expecting to to walk in to such a great space. They did an amazing job renovating this old building. The food was outstanding, and was also suprised to see such awesome beers. The cocktails were yet another shocker. All hand made and classic cocktails with fresh taste and nice appearance. Service can be patchy and parking is an issue, but i highly recommend it....here here.
Gastropub?!. In my never ending quest for good food i ran across this recently opened pub near the house. I had the Fish and Chips with a cold pint-splendiferous! It also has a huge covered patio and great mood/ambiance for dates. I'm looking forward to checking out the rest of the menu!
Citysearch Editorial Review. Quietly standing sentinel on its shady patch of Richmond, the Queen Vic is a modern, comfort pub that’s doing wonders for England’s food reputation. Like the owners’ other restaurant down the street, Oporto Wine Bar, the concept is simple but tightly executed. Sausage rolls are paired with just the right spicy English mustard, the fish and chips are crispy not soggy and the cocktails are well crafted. Many of the menu items are Indian influenced, like the Scotch eggs nestled in curry and short rib samosas, and they all hit the right spots on the comfort food meter. Adding to the sense of coziness are the pressed tin ceiling and damask wallpaper, all cast in the dim light of exposed filament light bulbs.
