Tips for Ron Carter Toyota

March 14, 2013

Just bought my second car at RC Toyota. It was a great experience. I have bought both cars from Mike Metcalf. He was easy to work with, very professional, and honest. I felt like both times I got a good deal and left the dealership happy. I have been to the service department a couple of times for routine maintenance and they have always been professional. I am loving the Scion FR-S. it is a great car. I bought both cars within 2 years. Both new.

Bait and switch. I had a horrible experience with Ron Carter Toyota. They pulled the old bait and switch on me. I found Toyota Corolla that I had been looking for at their location. They are 60 miles away from where I live so I was very clear on price and terms with Shirley, the sales women that I was dealing with was very polite on the phone and understood that I would be purchasing a vehicle this week. She knew that I had a long drive and needed the terms of the deal set before I would make that drive with my wife, 3yr old son, and 12mo baby. The deal was on a 2010 Toyota Corolla Stock #: PT2315 for $12500 which I had negotiated with Shirley down from their advertised price of $13,995. Of course after I haul my family 60 miles to get the car Shirley is a no show and they will not budge from $13,995. I had Shirley's cell number so I called and she basically said tough luck. Zach the Salesman that I was dealing with confirmed when I first arrived that the $12500 deal was still valid. But of course when it came time to look at the paperwork they were no where near that. After wasting about an hour of my time pretending that he "negotiating" a price with the sales manager he came back with the same offer. The sales manager then came out to tell me there was nothing that I could do. I had Shirley on the phone at the time I was talking to him, but he would not talk to her. He they started to call me a lair and told me to leave the dealership. He even threatened to call the police if I didn't leave. What a bunch of crooks pulling the bait and switch.

worst service dept. ever. I'm being generous by giving this place one star. I normally don't write reviews on sites like this but I felt like I owed my fellow man a heads up to stay away from this place unless they like rude, surly, incompetent service writers. I've been taking my cars here for service for years as have several of my friends. One of them had told me that they had brought in a new service manager several months ago who fired most of the old service writers and brought in new ones and that there was a huge difference from how it used to be and I thought he was just exaggerating and that it couldn't be that bad. I was wrong- it was even worse than he led me to believe. I don't know who the dim bulb was who fired the other service manager and brought this group in but they've lost a long time customer here and I'm not the only one of my friends who have said the same thing. In the past the service writers were out the door to greet you and take down your information before you hardly had time to stop. They were well mannered and well informed. This time I had to stand at a service writer's desk for several minutes while he finished a personal call and then he acted like it really put him out to wait on me. I don't remember his name but I do remember he was bald. It wouldn't have done any good to go to another s.w. because another one was on his My Space or Facebook page or whatever those things are called. I've never seen the quality of a business go down hill this fast. The only bright spot in the whole experience was a service writer named Nick. He helped me when my s.w. totally disappeared. Nick was very polite and found my keys for me and helped me find my car. I will NEVER go back to this place for service. It's the closest Toyota dealership to me but from now on I'll be doing what my friends who drive Toyotas do now and go over to Star Toyota.
