Best Vietnamese Duck w Bamboo Noodle Soup. On the recommendation of a friend, I stopped by Bung Mang Vit Thanh Da on a late afternoon to try their house specialty, the "Bun Mang Vit".

Nestled in a brand new strip mall next to the prominent store called "Van Loi," this is probably one of the cleanest Vietnamese restaurants I've been to. Large, inviting and plushy pale lime green booths flanked both sides of the restaurant, and three flat screen TV's played Vietnamese singing variety shows at a pleasant volume. The menu was easy to understand with pictures to accompany descriptions, and the overall decor theme of pale lime green had a very soothing quality to it.

So how was the food? "Bun Mang Vit," a Northern Vietnamese specialty, is rice vermicelli noodle soup made with duck and bamboo shoots. I ordered the soup with the duck on the side for less than $1 more, the duck is served on dish with some sweet/spicy cabbage salad. The soup was EXCELLENT. The broth was sweet and hearty, the ginger dipping sauce, tangy and spicy, the presentation top notch for a fledgling little restaurant. The duck meat had too many bones on it for me, but when I told the waiter, he said I could request "duck breast" for leaner meatier serving of duck. I will do that next time. The "cafe sua da" Vietnamese Iced Coffee was also excellent. They offer other dishes most of which are duck-centric, but that's ok. If their specialty is duck and they do it well, then I know where to go when I want some.

Overall I had a great meal at Bun Mang Vit Thanh Da and will definitely be back soon!
