Citysearch Editorial Review. This quaint bakery-cafe combo in Dunlavy’s Little Palm strip center is one of the city’s cheaper authentic Mexican eateries. Breakfast is a particular specialty, lasting all day and featuring chilaquiles, huevos rancheros and a cheesy croissant sandwich packed with eggs, sausage, bacon and veggies. The freshly baked bread makes the torta a standout, while the corn-dough sopes are also a pleasure. For dessert, the friendly chef-owner Trancito Diaz, who once worked at the Houston Country Club as a pastry specialist, has brought his formidable skills to bear on such Mexican desserts as flan, tres leches and layered tortes, perfect companions for the delicious, house-roasted cinnamon coffee. Eat in with table service or order at the counter to go.
