Terrific food, friendly service, great patio.... I really enjoyed our lunch at this neat restaurant. I had a travelzoo voucher for a shared app, 2 salads, and 2 entrees...all plentiful, tasty, and served with a smile (and personality). We ordered champagne and wine to go with our meal - again really good. The seafood toasts were delicious - more than enough for two people; the organic salad was terrific and so was the salad with corn, seeds, and blueberry vinaigrette; we had steaks - mine with blue cheese, my date's without (cooked perfectly). The menu is very interesting with something for everyone - some unusual items that show the chef's personality. We sat outside on the porch - it was nice. The bar is large and there's an additional beer bar on the other side. Indoor seating was plentiful too. My date and I felt this was definitely a place to return to. Friendly service, great food, good location, great seating - a terrific spot for any occasion.

I've been here for several dates and its always a great time. Food is pretty good, I'd stick to the salads, pizzas, and pasta.
Service is either hit or miss. I've been after work where the wait staff completely ignores you for 15 minutes and I've been other times where the owner/manager comes to greet our table and send us complimentary appetizers.
Best Spot and Service on a Monday. We arrived with a two year old and an intention to eat somewhere new. We found Steve(bartender/waiter) with a smile and wonderful service and food.Steve was so helpful with the menu and kept up with our table the whole time. Although not busy on Monday's yet, I hope all choose this location for the 'New' Monday hairdresser hangout.Although some of the reviews have not been favorable in the evenings try it out for lunch and you'll be suprised.
Yummy food, Fantastic wines & Smooth ambience. Block 7 is doing it right. Or any other night. Block 7 has all the key ingredients to ensuring its longevity on the Houston food scene.
I met a group of 8 friends here on Saturday around 7pm. We'd heard great things about the food, so we wanted to try. After we sat down, we waited about 10 minutes for a server before we had to flag one down. We had to ask twice for our water. After a long wait, we finally made our food orders. Our food was delivered by a busboy, and our waitress never came back to the table to check on our meal. In fact, another friend arrived at our table about 10 minutes before our food was served, and we had all finished eating and she had not yet been seen by the waitress to order food or drink. We had to flag down a manager and request service. He came to the table but seemed unapologetic. We had to wait a good while after that to get our bill, which was charged with an automatic 18% gratuity. One member of our party was charged another 18% tip on top of that (consequently, she was the one who complained to the manager about the service). We were also charged for an extra bottle of wine, which we were able to have removed.
The food was alright. Definitely not worth the price or the hassle. I will not be going back.
I love Block 7. I love the friendly, unpretentious staff that entertains my 'I know crap about wine' palette. I've also learned alot about wine between their staff & their FREE tasting events.
How it usually works... 'Let's meet at B7 for a glass. MAYBE 2' ... a bottle later we're looking for our next little gem and have moved to the patio, gone through the truffle popcorn and asked for the menu again.
I can go to B7 and and get a bottle of wine for UNDER $25. And it's one I've never had. And I love it. I have an entire list of 'Wines I've discovered at B7' I take with me to Spec's. Tip from a regular: if you're going to buy 2 glasses of wine ... it's the same price as buying the bottle. Seriously, lowest markup in town. AND NO CORKAGE FEE!
While it sounds like the bees knees, I think the Krack is overrated. I do highly rec the truffle popcorn - extra truffle salt. The flat breads. The roasted cauliflower. Sweet potato fries. And rabbit. And live music. And the art - from local artists.
It does get crowded - go early for happy hour. Even Monday - Wednesday. Worse than the crowds is the parking - not as bad as other Washington spots ... but the non-valet spots are usually taken and I street park rather than valet. But I've never not found a spot that is adjacent to the building. Definitely more accessible than Max's.
Overrated and Overpriced.
Huge foodie who dines in this price range and higher often. Visited on a Saturday night with a party of 4 and only had to wait 10 minutes for a table. That is were the speedy service ended. It took approximately 30 minutes to receive the popcorn and roasted nuts ordered at the bar when we first arrived. We finished two bottles of wine before our main courses ever arrived. When they did, the smoked pork loin was terrible. The flavor was just not good, there is no way to describe it. The Croque Monsieur was decent, although not worth the price for a glorified ham & cheese sandwich with little to no béchamel sauce. The lamb chops and accompanying risotto were quite good. The most expensive item we ordered was a filet which was also terrible. It was ordered medium, and because of the odd shape ended up sub-rare in the middle which the diner could not tell initially (perhaps because the lighting is so abysmal?). It took about 2.5 hours start to finish and was NOT the type of establishment that you want a long drawn out meal. For the price I could have had 4 amazing meat entrees at Brasserie Max & Julie's in a great atmosphere with fantastic service.
Stick with Max's Wine Dive if you are looking in the area. Even though it is loud, at least you have something to look at on the walls.
Every time I go to Block 7, I discover great wine.
I love the flatbread pizzas, the salads and fish. My husband loves everything there for carnivores. We can have a great meal and INCREDIBLE wines and not spend a fortune. The fact that they don't mark the wines up is a big deal for us.
I will admit that I could be called biased because I know the folks "with the keys to the door." Still, I have always been impressed with the wine or food.

Just south of the Washington strip, this trendy wine retailer and bar set up shop in a refurbished appliance store that is almost too sleek for its warm and satisfying menu. Although plenty of revelers enter here, there's more sit-down dining than mingling going on--but that's because the food is good. The menu gives a nod to Alice Waters, not only with a quote, but through locally sourced items like tangy cauliflower with preserved lemon and the earthy rabbit pappardelle. The retail portion is kept at a cool cellar temperature and anchored by repurposed vintage fittings. Bottles are priced from low to high and the clerks will generously open a bottle you’re interested in and sell you a glass with no commitment.
