Go here if you like bland food. This is our second time to eat here and it will be the last. We did not enjoy the food at all! We had the grilled tilapia, gumbo, and jambalya. The tilapia was very bland and I could not force myself to eat anymore of it. I left more than 1/2 of the fillet on my plate. The gumbo was probably the worst gumbo I have ever had. It was very bland. Goode company seafood and boudreaux's have way better gumbo. The jambalya had no taste as well. This dinner actually ruined our night considering how pricey the food was and we did not even enjoy the food one bit.
****Great Food****. I'm from Louisiana & this place has some of the most authentic creole food in town. The gumbo is delicious. I highly recommend the buffalo shrimp, it's "rub your belly" good!! I just tried the fried oyster salad a few weeks ago & it's awesome!! Staff is always friendly & patient when I'm trying to decide on what I want. I 've never felt rushed. If you want to experience a little bit of Lousiana while in Houston, give this place a try. I'll be back for the fried oyster salad for sure!! :-)
The best crawfish and service in the city!. Rajun Cajun has been around for many years and will always be here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I read one comment that said the crawfish were bad. They must have been on some appetite controlling substance . Anyone who like crawfish knows the other restaurant they said was better is not, actually that restaurant's crawfish in my opinion really sux..
What happened to the man in the Crawfish pants?!?!. For anyone who knows what I'm talking about I'll tell you there's no reason to go back! We were going there for lunch at least twice a month and LOVED IT!! However we went yesterday 7/24/2007 and everything has changed. It took a minute to realize it, but all the real charm was gone... business cards, polaroids, newpaperclippings stapled to the walls... GONE. Then you realize there's new stuff, soda machines, menus, WOW the prices - it looks like everything went up $2.00; grilled chicken salad $10.00?? In the end I suppose all of this would be fine except for one thing, the food... NOWHERE near as good on any level quantity, quality, taste. Probably better then some places but definately not the Ragin Cajun of the past. Four different items off the menu, four different people one general conclusion... Dissapointment.
Gumbo & Oysters. The gumbo at the ragin cajun is amazing. Thick, dark and full of meat. They also have the best oysters I've had in the city. Very fresh, cold and just the right size. Also, they sell a hot sauce there called Pepperdoux that is great. A half dozen oysters and a bowl of gumbo is the perfect way to get over a hangover. Parking gets a little rough during lunch hour though.
Yum, yum, yum. Great oysters on a half shell, corn bread, pecan pie.... Even the beer tastes better here! Fun, casual place to eat great food.
Geaux Here. Ragin' Cajun is a Houston Landmark (or should be) The Food is out of this world and plentiful. The people are real friendly and it has a great, casual, relaxed atmosphere. The crawfish are wonderful, and try the soft shell BBQ crabs! Mmmm Mmmm Good!
Cajun born says This is the BEST!!. Consistently fresh, spicy, large array of truly Cagin fare! It's a Houston landmark for those in the know. Gumbo, shrimp, oysters, crawfish, boudin, hush puppies, boiled, fried, steamed, you ask for it and they've got it--- any way ya want it. And that's how REAL Cajun's like it! It's a persnable place where every customer is a friend!
*****The Best Crawfish in Town*****.
If you like cold beer, hot crawfish, and great service.. The Ragin Cajun is the place for you. Walk in thru the back door and be greeted by Frank the owner and Gary the oyster bar manager and its like walking into grandma house with your crazy uncle serving up good eats. All around terrific food.. "Don't Miss" dishes are Po Boys, Gumbo, Oysters, and the best CRAWFISH in TOWN. I would suggest every cajun joint in town come and learn how to cook the bugs... Little Lobsters....
This place does it right time after time.
The Best!!!.
I could eat here 7 days a week!!!
The Gumbo is packed with seafood, and the Red Beans & Rice is AWSOME (Get it with Cheese and Onions)
I can't finish a Po Boy they are so big!
Try the BBQ Crabs, but wear the bib...
Best place in town to catch a Ball Game on TV !
