i thought it was supposed to be authentic Louisiana cajun. This trip I took my father as he is a Cajun food lover and I was not only dissapponted but embarassed for recdommending the place. We got there after the lunch crown around 3pm, so I'm not sure if that is why our food was so bad. We both ordered the seafood gumbo, and I was very shocked by the thick greasy type froth they put in front of me. The only consistency I can compare this to is a thick like brown gravy with lumps, and this is actually doing it justice. The only part of seafood I can remember are the few pieces of shrimp and dried up (very fishy) oysters. Very dissapponted that a Cajun resteraunt would ever serve such slop, as you can get gumbo out of a can that is better than what I was served.

Good Food, Lousy Customer Service. Had lunch there today, this was the 6th time or better this yr visiting, and as usual the service was below poor..

This go round, I ordered fries with my po-boy, sandwhich comes out (actually sandwhich came out twice as he tried to give me another tables order first), no fries, I ask again, this time a few minutes go by and I ask a third time...he never turned the order in, and wanted to know if I still wanted them (at this point I am down to less than half of my Po Boy) I decline, but asked for a discount for screwing up my order.

The "owner" says, don't worry ,I did not charge you for the fries....I would have been happy with them comping my Iced Tea, I was not looking for a free meal, but this comment alone was enough that I will not be returning...

The food is good, but not good enough for that kind of customer service...

Real Deal Louisianna Cooking Downtown. Calliope's Po-boy makes the best dang seafood gumbo this side of the Louisanna border. Dark roux and loaded with oysters, shrimp and crab. The fried oyster po-boys are excellent! I'm telling you, I wish they'd open up one in the Heights.

Great cajun poboys. These are as good as you get in Louisiana. Every sandwich is freshly made (and sometimes takes a while if people are ahead of you), stuffed with lots of shrimp, roast beef, oysters, whatever, and CHEAP!

I always get a roast beef and fried shrimp combo, with hushpuppies (or fries or onion rings) and a drink, for under $11. And the "small" is huge. I don't think I could finish a medium. Very good french bread, just chewy enough, just crispy enough.

A friend says the gumbos are also good.

Very small place, owner always there. They are developing a loyal clientele, so you better go soon before it gets too crowded.
