Excelent spa – totally treatment..
I went to OLS last Saturday for my manicure and pedicure with gift certificate somebody gave for me. Was really nice, I have the cool mint pedicure and organic lotus manicure. The spa so clean, and I loved the OLS concept and the design, so different, everybody in th e spa so friendly and sweet. Tje thing ire ally like that They change the foot file and the thing for cal us each client, so clean.
I really love it, I will come back try different pedicures and manicures, and the facial.
And the room pedicure really nice and open, have a big window that you can see the tree outside on the the Montrose street, totally different from the shopping center.
A terribly frustrating experience – I made an appointment online for me and my friend as instructed since I could not reach them by phone and they did not return my message. We both got a confirmation e-mail to confirm our appointment. The night before our 10am appt, my friend gets an e-mail telling her that due to a family emergency with staff her appt was canceled. My friend decided to come hang out with me anyways luckily because the place was so freaking hard to find. We could not find it but of course when we called no one picked up. Then the building had no signs at all. I was 30 minutes late and the receptionist told us it would cut in my time but I was so flustered I told her to just cut into my time because I was not coming back. I asked about my friends appt and the receptionist has been out of the country on vacation for DAYS so she didn't know how it was booked, plus normally there is only one person working Wednesdays anyway, but again we only got the cancellation the night before!!! We were informed that some of the services originally mentioned in groupon was not available to us because the owner decided it was too expensive for groupon customers. The mani/pedi was sloppy and I'm not convinced of the so called organic factor which attracted me to the groupon in the first place is real!
Not good, not good at all.... – I visited Organic Lotus on a Thursday afternoon, October 6th, using a Groupon for a mani/pedi - basically paying $40 for what their website lists as an $81 service ($60 Cool Mint Pedi and a $21 Classic Mani). I arrived 5 minutes before my 3pm appointment, but the tech didn't start my pedi for 10+ minutes, even though there was an empty pedi chair. When she did start, there was basically no foot soak - the tech directed me to the pedi chair as the bowl was filling with water and she dropped in some mint salts, skipping the part where she was supposed to add lemon slices to the soak. Then she sat down and started the pedicure. The pedicure was ok, but nothing close to spa-like or luxurious. The mask consisted of a spoonful of product spread over the top of my feet and topped with hot towel for about 2 minutes - seriously, it was just put on the top. The parafin wax was nonexistent. They made no mention of it, just skipped right over it. As far as the polishing goes, completely marginal. There are bubbles, unpainted areas, and polish on my skin. The manicure was similarly marginal, with them skipping over the parafin wax again. My mani-pedi took less than an hour, and there was another customer waiting for my chair. I was sold an $81, 1.5 hour service and received a $40, 60 minute service. Not a good deal.
A few other things I'd like to mention... there are only 2 pedicure stations and they're not at all comfortable (bench with a couple of pillows; the soak bowl is a stainless steel kitchen sink, with no water jets; the parking is on Montrose Blvd, a very busy street, otherwise you have to park around the block; the salon is in an old house that has a bit of character, and I think they've made an effort to add some spa decor, but it's not well maintained (old, torn magazines, dusty vases, dead plants, unswept floor).
I had no problems with the owner or the staff or scheduling my appointment. But this service is not worth the posted prices. It's a good enough concept, but poorly executed. Presumably they did the Groupon promotion in hopes of building their returning clientele, but I can't imagine anyone would return to pay their posted prices for such sub-par service.
Fancy descriptions, disappointing service – I just went there to use my Groupon at their new location. It was hot and the seat was not comfortable. The descriptions of the pedicure sounded so luxurious, but it was really just a normal mani-pedi, nothing special! Also, they didn’t have a credit machine, which they did not tell you until the very end, and I didn’t have any cash. They told me to walk down the street to the Chase bank and get cash from the ATM. Well, I bank with Wells Fargo, and I ended up getting charged $3 by Chase and $2.50 by my bank! So this non-luxurious mani-pedi ended up costing way more than my normal normal place that would’ve been $40+tip! Geez. Never doing this again!
Potential to be a great nail salon but poor planning – I was a little sad to see so many negative reviews for this place, but I do understand where the reviewers are coming from. My overall experience was very good. I enjoyed the mango paraffin wax treatment, and the girls at the spa were extremely friendly. I also love the concept of an "organic" nail salon. I did find it a little confusing that Organic Lotus Spa is inside of another spa, and it is not labeled separately.
I discovered Organic Lotus Spa via Groupon back in May. I called early and was able to get an appointment the next day. The owner was extremely sweet and polite, but I could already tell she was getting overwhelmed by the enthusiastic responses from Groupon. The space isn't very big, probably good for up to 3 comfortably. With over 1,000 Groupons purchased, I don't think the owner was prepared to see such a high volume of people in a short amount of time. It seems that Organic Lotus Spa is only prepared to see a limited number of people each day, and the volume brought in by Groupon is definitely WAY TOO MUCH for 1-2 people to handle. While Groupon is a great way to get your business' name out there and gain some new customers, it seems to have backfired for Organic Lotus Spa. I hope they are able to get back into the swing of things when everything begins to die down.
Extremely Difficult to Work with – I found the experience with Organic unpleasureable from the first step. Making the appointment was not easy on their web calendar which is not user friendly. I never received confirmation of my appointment. Two hours before my appointment I became very ill with fever and vomiting. I left a voice mail after the first incident. You have to leave a message because no one live ever answers the phone. I got a call two hours later gloating that I was going to lose my Groupon because I didn't give 24 hour notice. Really? Who does that? The only reason Annie felt confident to do it is because the money was already pocketed. DId I know 24 hours earlier that I would be ill? Very poor business
Bad customer service, over priced – Organic Lotus Spa provided me with the worst experience ever in a nail salon. My two daughters, my mother and I had confirmed appointments. When we got there, it was to find some other customers upset about their messed up appointments; the tension in the air was high, they left upset, without receiving service and being treated as if they were liers. It is highly doubtful that three people are going to show up without an appointment at a location that doesn't even have the business name outside stating they have an appointment.
I had specially booked the appointments for all of us at the same time in hopes of a relaxing, fun evening. When I called initially, I spoke with the owner who assured me she had enough personnel to take care of us; since I was not able to get anyone to answer the phone or return my calls to confirm the appointment and add a fourth person to my group, I went there personally and confirmed the appointments. I was told then that they could take only two people at a time but that they had spa facilities that we could use while waiting. I was given appointments for 5:30 and 6:00. I found out when we arrived that she only has two stations, shares the space with another business and basically has no place of her own to have her customers wait. That particular day, she was the only one working. I had my nails done by her receptionist and one of my daughters and I shared the allotted time for the pedicure; neither of us got the service we were promised. My mom declined to have her pedicure done so my other daughter could receive the full service. ALL of our polish was chipped or peeled by the second day. Mine came off like a bad sticker, all in one piece without me doing dishes or anything to harm it. On top of everything else, I had to hear how the owner did not make enough money with Groupon and she just wanted to get customers from it. It is no excuse to me, I paid $40 for services of a certain quality based on a Groupon deal; I can get better service than I received at OLS for $40 from the nail salon down the street from me, and without any hassle. Would not recommend to anyone
Won't go back – There is only space for 2 clients at a time, the place is just too small and feels awkward....I wasn't made to feel welcome. In fact, I arrived about 10 min prior to my appointment, was excited about trying this place out. When I stuck my head in the door, Annie seemed less than pleased, pointing out that I was early...I don't know many people who arrive exactly the minute their appointment is scheduled. Anyway, there is really no place to wait, so I waited out on the front porch. It was a lovely place to wait, but it's May in Houston....kinda hot!
Eventually, Jackie arrived, who was helping Annie. Jackie was a lovely person. She wasn't feeling well however, as I heard her state to Annie...not something I really needed to know. Anyway, I was having a mani/pedi using the Groupon. I felt Annie was not a warm or welcoming person to her clients or her employee.
When I got my mani....they do not soak your nails...I heard the lady before me ask about this, and she was told that isn't a good thing to do. To put it nicely, poppycock! The top coat that was used made tiny microbubbles on my nails, which I didn't notice right away. No more than 1 minute after the mani was finished....some other client, who was apparently having spa services elsewhere in the building came in & I was asked to sit elsewhere. Well...this resulted in messing up 2 nails (which Annie deemed were "fine")...there was one chair to sit in near the reception desk...I chose again to sit outside...hoping the view from the porch would make my blood pressure decrease, after such a cold, non-special feeling experience.
This lady has a lot to learn about customer service, in an industry where there is lots of competition and where people want to feel relaxed and a little pampered! I won't go back....& I feel sorry for all these people wanting to use their Groupons!!
I don't like to say negative things about people & rarely complain about bad service, but I had to draw the line here!
Bad experience for bride-to-be – I let myself go home and sleep it off before I wrote this review, but I still woke up angry. My mom, grandmother, sister and I showed up to our 5:30 appointment yesterday. We were met with two problems instantaneously: 1) The receptionist argued with my mom about the time that the appointment had been scheduled for (which by the way, my mom had to come to the actual store to set the appointment since they weren't returning her calls) and 2) There was another group of women who said they had an appointment at 5:00 but OLS said they were never on the books. I have no doubt that these women were telling the truth about having the appointment.
*The owner had told my mom a certain price over the phone and changed her mind when we came in. Her explanation was that she has taken thousands of calls since the Groupon so she can't remember every conversation.
*The young woman who I believed to be the receptionist did our manicures since the only person on staff doing nails was the owner - I understand they normally have someone else but she called in sick; however, don't tell us you can do 1.5 hour mani/pedi's for four people when you hardly have seating for four people.
*The young woman doing our nails told my sister when discussing my sister's university "Oh, yeah UT is the closet thing you can get to a real university in Texas". ... REALLY?
*The hot stone massage I had lasted about 5 minutes. The pedicure itself took over an hour.. only because I shared that hour with my mom.
*And after all of this, the owner still charged me $5 since I got a french pedicure instead of polish - EVEN AFTER, her own employee said she would pay for it because she agreed we had a bad experience. They spoke in another language in front of me and then the girl said she "misunderstood" - she thought I meant something else and so I did have to pay. So why say "It's on me?". Don't advertise an hour pedicure with hot stone massage and a 30 minute manicure, if you're going to give a less than desirable massage, only spend 30 minutes and do a manicure job that is already chipping.. AND still charge me for a different style of polish AFTER insulting my mother and sister and making a bride-to-be cry.
I will never go here again. The whole experience was unpleasant. We tried out best to make the most of it but I left in tears. Two days until my wedding and the nail polish is already chipping. Thanks.
I was given an ingrown toe nail! – The sign out front doesnt even say Organic Lotus Spa. Second, the place barely seemed open. The owner went straight to my big toe and completely cut the corner off. Then had the nerve to tell me some places give you an ingrown on purpose to make you come back. Now i get the joy of growing this out. F this place. Im disgusted.
