The whole staff is VERY nice, and the place is kept very very clean. I never once saw a roach, and the swimming pool was WONDERFUL! The rooms are not fancy, but that isn't why we went to Galveston in the first place. The beds did not sagg, and my kids enjoyed the continental breakfast. If you're looking for posh surroundings, you might want to keep looking. But, if you are on a budget and fancy isn't on your list, I would say this hotel will work just fine! Oh...and when they say across the street from the beach, they aren't kidding! There is a traffic light right outside the hotel, and the view is really beautiful! We had a great time!
We have stayed at this hotel many, many times. It is right across the street from the beach and in walking distance to a few good restaurants, Murdoch's and the Pleasure Pier. It is pretty basic, but, comfortable and clean. The balcony is a plus to watch the beach fun and traffic going up and down the seawall.
We travel to Galveston at least 3 times a year and have always stayed at the hotels with the best value/rate. This was our first time at The Commodore and we enjoyed it! Every room has a view of the beach, which was pretty cool. The staff was very friendly and helpful, as well.
We stayed on the bottom floor by the pool which is a great pool by the way. Served a decent breakfast and is right in the area by walking distant of many great restaurants.
This hotel was very comfortable. The staff were pleasant, cordial and very giving of their time. There was a wide variety of foods to choose from for the Continitetal breakfast as well as a clean and comfortable area in which to enjoy it.
I will certainly stay here again. Hopefully soon.
Thank you for a pleasant stay.
Our family stayed here for 3 nights and the kids just loved it! The location is excellent, just cross the street at the light (no need to dodge the traffic) and you're at the beach. Personnally, we liked having to have tokens for ice; it kept people not registered using their facilities (what's wrong with that?) The people were very friendly and helpful and it's nice to know you can go to the lobby for free coffee, donuts, etc. We were drawn to this hotel on the internet because all their rooms (balconies) face the ocean - great to enjoy at night when the kids are finally asleep! This is our favorite hotel to stay now in Galveston - we'll be back!
This was a great place for the family. It was very affordable and in the best location / The continental breakfast is good, staff very courteous, a nice, clean place. Our kids loved it because you could walk right out of our 1st floor room and be at the pool! I could watch them from the patio.
This place was perfect for our family. We just wanted clean, quiet and comfortable place to stay. I have stayed in many bad hotels and motels in Galveston so I requested to see the room first. We loved the beach view and the balcony and the room was very clean. Throughout our 3 day stay, everyone employed by the Commadore was super friendly this included housekeeping and maintenance. The continental breakfast was perfect to get our day started(but we like cereal, fruit and muffins).
The famous Amos cookies before bed was a very nice touch. The beds and fluffy pillows were very comfortable. You can walk across the street to the beach or next door(either side) for dinner and refreshments. If you prefer a 5 star hotel and room service, etc, you might be disappointed, but for our family, it was great. We have finally found our weekend getaway lodging.
We chose this hotel because we could leave our car there and take the shuttle to port for a five-day cruise. I wasn't expecting much, and was pleasantly suprised. It was very clean, the staff was exceptionally nice, and I slept like a log--the beds were very comfortable. It was nice being able to walk across the street and walk along the beach late at night.
This is an older hotel and no frills but the room was very clean. Our room was right next to the road so a little road noise but we were right across from the beach. The pool was nice, view from balcony was great and for the price I have no complaints. There was a security officer making rounds as well as room key was needed to access pool area so I felt very safe. Breakfast was basic but good. Centrally located to boardwalk and numerous restaurants.
If you are looking for a fancy hotel with special amenities this isn't it. If you are looking for a clean reasonable place with a good view this is great.
