“My worst furniture shopping experience - damaged, late/expensive delivery”
BEWARE!!! Worst Furniture Shopping Exp Ever!. I have had a nightmare of an experience with RTG. In March 2010 I visited their showroom to buy a living room and bedroom set b/c of the free TV deals. First thing I told the salesman was that I needed furniture that could be delivered wtihin 2 weeks...."no problem, no problem" I was told. So, I proceed to spend about an hour picking out all my furniture...then go with my salesman to the computers to place my order and find half of it is out of stock or on month-long back-orders. So, I go back and re-pick out my furniture and the same thing happens several times. Now, I've spent so much time in this store, I am determined to find something in stock! So, finally I find a bedroom set that can be delivered on-time/by my move in date and a living room set that will come a week later., and the ottoman a week after that. Fine, I can deal with that and place my order. I'm told the TV that comes with the bedroom set will come within 5 business days of my furniture delivery. Not so. You can't even place your order for the TV until 5 business days AFTER the delivery. Then come to find out that TV is out of stock, so I have to choose another one and end up having to pay about $100 extra for cost, tax and shipping...therefore, NOT a FREE TV. Next weekend living room set comes.. half the sectional I ordered is broken before they even get it off the truck. I call RTG to ask when the rest will be delivered...guess what, it's on back order, it will be another week or more before they can locate one to ship. Meanwhile, the free 50" Samsung that comes with the living room set is supposed to be delivered within 14 business days of your furniture delivery. But guess what...they don't count from the original date my living room furniture was delivered...oh no, they start counting from the rescheduled delivery date for the rest of the broken couch they screwed up. Great...I'm trying to be patient. It's now been a month and a half since I purchased the furniture and still no 50" TV. Finally, on a Monday I get an email from RTG saying TV will be shipped within 5 business days. 5th bus. day comes and no TV. Contact RTG...it's now out of their hands..Best Buy is having an "issue" with my order and I'll need to call them. I call Best Buy...guess what..50" Samsung is now on a major back-order...for at least 3-4 weeks (or more). My options are to switch for a smaller TV or take a $750 gift card (which will NOT cover a 50" like I was promised)...so I'm waiting... Meanwhile RTG is still out there adveritising on TV and online this free 50" Samsung which they KNOW they don't even have available to their customers for over a month. Totally deceptive and only trying to lure people into their showroom....don't even have the room on this review to tell you all the other issues I've run into...but it has been a royal pain in the behind and a lot of waisted time and money. Do yourself a favor and just go on over to Mattress Mack and get your furniture AND TV that same day...save yourself a major headache!!
