OK for Breakfast. There are not a lot of breakfast places in the Memorial neighborhood of Houston. The Egg and I chain has this nice cafe located in a strip center. The food is roughly on a par with say, Denny's or IHop. They have some interesting omlets and scrambles but they don't really pull them off all that well. Now, I like good coffee being as how I'm from the Pacific Northwest. TE&I's coffee is weak and lacking flavor. I simply don't order it any more. For those of you who like flavored coffee, they often serve one. They charge about 20% more than Denny's for essentially the same food. On the other hand, this is a bright, cheery, clean place. I really like sitting out on their patio when it's not too hot. Service is usually pretty good, but sometimes the kitchen is slow getting orders out. In a nutshell, if you're like me and enjoy a good breakfast, The Egg and I is a good, if undistinguished, choice.
