Tips for Antidote Coffee

Laid-back, unpretentious coffee house. I'll just say "ditto" to what other reviewers have said: no parking. Be prepared to park on side streets. The service is friendly, the choices good for the type of place it is. It's annoying when you come to share coffee/lunch with a friend and can't find a table because a solo person with their laptop is "hogging" the inside tables for two people, their cords strung along the floor. It's a total trip hazard, something which proprietors seems to overlook. The place could use sprucing up, including the side patio. Just because you're funky doesn't mean you can't be clean, tidy.

A place with character, friendly staff, and great prices. My boyfriend calls this place "my second living room" .

The interior of this coffeehouse does indeed feel like a college hipster's living room with the eclectic furnishings of worn vintage chairs and tables. Though livelier than a library, the atmosphere is not too loud for studying and there are plenty of outlets. I love that I can stay here for a few hours to work and order a couple of drinks without breaking the bank. The patio is nice and relaxing, but be sure to spray on the bug repellent to ward off Houston's inevitable mosquito menace.

The Antidote for Coffee withdrawl. Antidote is an outstanding coffee house in the Heights with great selection of drinks at reasonable prices. Above and beyond that is the quality of the coffee they serve. Everything tastes excellent and I highly recommend the Cajeta Latte. It's made with Mexican Cajeta (similar to caramel) and Goats milk. It's a little similar to a Caramel Macchiato but not the exact same. It has a richer taste and may be a little bit sweeter.

The espresso shots they pull are right on the money and the customer service is always excellent. Everyone is friendly and ready to help you out. The shop itself is great and cozy with a few couches and other seating inside and out. Besides the coffee they also have a unique selection of beers to choose from.

I think the only bad thing about this place is the parking. I have headed over there only to find no place to park and so I have to leave. I've made unplanned stops there just because I was driving by and noticed an empty space.

All in all Antidote is well worth the visit and I'm sure you will find something you like. The prices are right and the portions are great!

Citysearch Editorial Review. The owners of Poison Girl bar bring you Antidote, a coffeehouse cure for last night's venom. Caffeine-filled yet calming, this Heights haven boasts delicious coffee from Marfa's Big Bend Roasters, a Houston-centric menu sporting local cheeses and pastries and a loyalty to Texas beer (happy hour is daily from 4pm-7pm). For an adventurous but super-tasty alternative to your usual dark-roast brew, try the cajeta latte, made with caramelized goat's milk. Grab an early breakfast, Google away the afternoon on a low-slung sofa, unwind with a glass of wine after a long work day or shoot some espresso and cram until midnight.

Editorial Review by Jenny Wang. This quaint, bohemian coffeehouse--brought to The Heights by the owners of Poison Girl bar in Montrose--is a favorite of the neighborhood, with coffee from Big Bend Roasters in Marfa, free Wi-Fi, and pastries and snacks from local bakeries.
