“The Thai / pulled pork sandwich was great and I will be back for that alone.”
Great Lunch Spot!. Bowl is a great little cafe! I drive by it daily and always wanted to check it out. It has a very cozy and quaint atmosphere with the full menu on the wall behind the counter. They had a great selection of salads from customized or suggested ones, with an enormous array of different fresh veggies to choose from. Def recommend if you are vegetarian/vegan. They also have sadwiches that come with some really great kettle style chips, pizza, and specialty soups! The manager/owner Ralph was very friendly and helpful explaining all the different options and how everything is made. I ordered the Executive Grilled Cheese half sandwich(looks more like a whole) and salad combo which was more than enough! I opted for no mustard and onions and it was really delicious! I will def be back to try the Vegas Elvis!
Delicious, light, and healthy.
This is the place to go if you have a hankering for something healthy. The salads are great- you can build your own, or the pre-assembled ones are delicious. The dressings are super yummy and the default is to serve it on the side, which is fantastic.
The one minus is they need some sides. I'm a hungry graduate student and I would love to have some fresh made bread with butter on the side, or an order of fries, or caprese.
The atmosphere is great and the prices are friendly. Odds are we will be back especially during the holiday season when it's harder to mind your diet. There is wine you can get, and both inside and the patio offer a nice place for a date. A group was also having some kind of meeting there when we visited.
Hit and Miss.
I went there for the salad, so I was surprised that the salad dressings were not great. The vinaigrette was separated (not emulsified) and very tart (and I like tart). I did try several dressings and all the vinaigrettes were the same in that regard. The Thai / pulled pork sandwich was great and I will be back for that alone. Looking forward to trying more of their sandwiches.
UPDATE: My husband went there during the week to try another sandwich. He tried half of one and half of another. The chicken salad sandwich was terrific. The executive grilled cheese was NOT GOOD. It does not mention the other items like avocado, onion, mustard--which, according to him, did not mingle well. One thing to note is it took almost 40 minutes to get his order (for one person), so he will not be back during the week due to time constraints.
Citysearch Editorial Review. Conveniently situated between Montrose and Midtown, this cute café with a lime-green brick storefront allows you to indulge your creative side without overindulging your waist line. For salads choose a Solo (10 toppings) or Doppia (15 toppings) and on a paper menu check off your selection of greens, fixings, cheese and dressings like raspberry vinaigrette or lemon tarragon for a tailored meal you can further enhance with delicious soups created from scratch, hand-made thin-crust pizzas, or grilled gourmet sandwiches like the Executive Grilled Cheese and Hummus Veggie. The over 200 fresh (and many organic) ingredients mean higher quality than a salad bar, on top of friendlier service. Eat in and enjoy a glass or wine or beer.
Great for lunch and breafast incl weekends. Food is clean and enjoyable. Staff quick and happy. Atmosphere comfortably contemporary and cheery, including the changing art shows. Great spot. Peace- Jim
Pizza is to-die-for! Fresh made-to-order salads. Bowl Cafe has the best personal pizzas ive ever eaten!. Super thin crust made to order over fire brick with the freshest ingredients. Incredible. The salads are fresh and made to order with any combination of ingredients. I Love the lemon tarragon dressing. I think the best item on the menu has to be the Executive Grilled Cheese! Apples and melted white cheese on fresh grilled bread. Awesome little patio garden for cooler weather dining.
Charming Montrose lunch spot features delicious gourmet sandwiches and custom-ordered salads with more than 60 ingredients to choose from..
The Scene
The owners of Absinthe--known for some of the best pizza and paninis in town--have opened this Montrose lunch spot next door to offer gourmet grub before dusk. The casual, friendly eatery reveals its character with an exposed red brick wall, dark wood accents and furniture, and carefully chosen work by local artists. Just like the bar next door, the place does well attracting an eclectic crowd including downtown button-ups, artists and gallerinas from the nearby Museum District, and hipsters seeking a vegan or healthy meal option. Most diners prefer to sit on the quaint outdoor patio and enjoy a few rays with lunch before heading back to the grind.
The Food
Salads served in sleek white bowls come in two sizes: Solo or Doppio. Noshers pick one or up to a combination of four lettuces, one cheese and one dressing. The Solo includes 10 toppings, the Doppio, 15, of almost any salad ingredient imaginable including fresh veggies and sprouts, grilled portobellos, roasted potatoes or peppers, fresh and dried fruits and nuts galore. Add a protein such as tender beef tenderloin, tasty herb chicken or shrimp for a couple dollars more. The menu also features gourmet sandwiches such as the savory and sweet Executive Grilled Cheese with white cheddar, bacon and green apples on French bread, or the foodie favorite El Capitan with proscuitto, brie, basil and honey.
