LKD Flooring LLC. LKD wouldn't have 4.5 stars rating out of 100 reviews thru Servicemagic and recommended on the Angie's List by our clients if these two reviews below were true. You just can't please everyone, especially the people who are unhappy with their lives.

Floor/Countertops/Backsplash Buyer's Be Ware!. Located this company off Service Magic and Kevin's response time was wonderful. I looked on a Sunday and he was at my house early Monday morning for an estimate. Very easy going - seemed to understand exactly what I wanted. My goal was to identify costs and go from there. LKD (Kevin) took it upon himself to order the materials even before a contract was signed and then pressure us into proceeding. We did because of the deep discounts given. Bad idea. They have to make up the $ somewhere. Quality was where they chose.

We had wood floor installed and it was done well. They were my favorite crew - except for leaving their remnants and trash in my yard overnight - and after I had advised against it.

We had them install granite countertops - they are fine. I picked out the slabs and am happy with that. One of the seams is done well and very smooth - the others are not. Very careless when pulling out the existing countertops.

Next we had the slate floor installed. It was not laid out well - or thought out well for that matter. There are high points in the floor and valleys in others. And they way over estimated (at my cost) how much material was needed. They used a quick seal that was worthless and fussed when I had them come back to seal it properly.

This was the same crew who installed the backsplash. Some areas had the existing formica removed by the counter top guys...other areas had the tile backsplash laid on top of the formica. Shady!

Our agreement was to pay when the work was completed. At one point in the process Kevin showed up at my house and demanded payment...before the work was completed. He was rude, yelling and scared me - enough so that I asked him to leave my property. I was so happy the plumber was still there working! After that I would not allow him in my home unless someone else was present.

They also have a very shady way of doing business on the finance side. We used a finance deal that was presented to us through them - somehow they were able to charge to it without my permission or signatures. Come to find out - they charged to it before we ever signed our contract to go with them.

We would not EVER use this company again.

Bathroom Tile and Shower. Initially, we were very satisfied with LKD. We called them in December before Christmas, and they came out immediately, gave us an estimate, and started working. We had tile done in our bathroom and shower, and had the glass replaced in our shower. We had some issues with how some of the tile was laid, and they tore it all down and fixed it to our liking. It took longer than we were told, but it was around the holidays, and it was the glass company that took the longest time to come out.

About a month later, our ceiling started to leak. We traced it back to the shower, and were told by a plumber (after holes were put into our ceiling and walls) that the first group of workers that were hired by the contractor put screws through the shower drain pan liner. We called the contractor, he came back out and fixed it immediately. He even paid to have the holes in the walls fixed. But, the shower glass had to be removed, and it took almost 2 weeks to get the contractor to get the glass people to come back out. (We actually didn't hear back from him until we threatened to call Service Magic.) And when they finally did come out, we ended up having to caulk it ourselves because they didn't (even though we asked them to).

The shower looked beautiful, but we had significant amounts of water leaking underneath the door. At this point, we were tired of dealing with LKD and called a completely different glass company, who said that although the shower door was installed correctly, the tile underneath the shower door slanted out instead of in, which led to the water leaking out. We have decided to have a friend fix the tile and have this new glass company replace the glass. We would rather pay to have it done right.

It has been over 6 months and I still don't consider the job done. I don't think we will go through this contractor again.
