Citysearch Editorial Review. On the outskirts of Rice Village, Hans’ low slung building strung with Christmas lights houses 50 draft beers and more by the bottle. The snug interior of the converted house is outfitted with a few neon beer signs and an internet jukebox but most of the action happens on the sprawling back patio. If you don’t feel like convincing the rowdy patrons hogging the bocce court to let you have a turn, there are still plenty of picnic tables and a shady willow tree to enjoy a drink under. The crowd is a mix of the well-dressed leaking out from nearby Woodrows and Brian O’Neills and a crew of regulars that are always the last to be pried out of the bar at closing.

Good Place for Casual Fundraisers. Recently, they hosted a dog fundraiser, and the pet owners and dogs had a great time. Hang out in the backyard, and you'll feel like you are in Austin.

The owner was very nice, and his bartenders look like huge bouncers.

They do not have drink specials on Sundays.

If you are a bathroom snob, this place is not for you.

Great Beers & Wonderful Music!. I love Hans Bier Haus! The owner, Bill Cave, greets his guests by name and makes them feel right at home. Recently, there was a fabulous 10 piece band playing featuring tunes from the Big Band era. The event was catered affair and close to 7:00pm a sudden flood of water came pouring down from the condos next door. Residents had turned a water hose on and tried to destroy the band equipment. and soak the patrons. This sudden attack left several of us dripping wet. In speaking with other guests I found out that this is the third such attack on Hans. Several residents of the condo complex have been harassing patrons of Hans by throwing eggs, flooding the open air Bier garden and most distrubing targeting individuals with laser sights. I researched the public records and found that a few residents next door have called the police 64 times in the past year for various compliants. What a waste of the police resources.

My take on this is that a few individuals that moved next to a bar are suddenly suprised they are next door to a bar. A bar that has been in the Kirby area for many years and hosts one of the largest Bocce Bar tournaments annually. Bill Cave and Paul Kellog have long been supporters of local charity organizations and contributed to many of the golf tournaments I've managed through the years in Houston. Their annual entry into the Art Car Parade is inspired and quirky..somewhat like the owners.

Despite the neighbors, Hans is a fantastic place to hang out and have a beer and a great place to listen to a variety of music styles.

Houstons Best Beer Bar. Hans Bierhaus is a lovely place for friends or romantics to enjoy ice cold beer, laughs, and a warm breeze on the relaxing patio.

I meet new friends each visit to Hans. Its also great for business networking if you must, but keep it to a minimum.

The patrons and staff alike are always friendly and outgoing. I have also enjoyed myself at Hans. The ladies are treated with respect and the staff are very attentive.

Editorial Review. Easy-going tavern in southwest Houston boasts a large beer garden, a bocce court, 21 beers on tap and an extensive wine list.
