What Our Expert Scouts Say

Crave Cupcakes
October 25, 2012

It's a tiny space, but it doesn't matter, most people order a couple of cupcakes to go, then scarf them down while standing at the counter or sitting in one of the few seats out front. The cake is dense but moist, the frosting so full of flavor that the calories ingested are totally worth it.

Tips for Crave Cupcakes

I love Crave Cupcakes! I used to be a Sprinkles cupcakes person, and then I tried Crave... Now I can't eat cupcakes from anywhere else! They have fun flavors, like the Nutella flavored cupcake

Delicious!. They are great, but not the best in Houston. But I will definitely come back for some more again. I love their strawberry cupcake :)

Dense Cupcakes and Now Breakfast Cupcakes. Nobody should eat dessert everyday. Then, I tried the breakfast cupcakes that they just launched. Buy one the next time you are picking up cupcakes for the office birthday party.

Only splurge here if you like heavy cupcakes and icing. My guyfriends thought they were too dense. Then again, they like the manufactured-tasting HEB cupcakes.

I've tried at least 6 flavors here, so I obviously like dense cupcakes. My favorite have been the coconut and lemonade ones, because the sugar on top of the cupcake and between the icing is crispy giving it a differerent sweet texture. All you need is one cupcake, very satisfying. Eat two and you'll regret it.

Crave also has clean and classic packaging and is part of the presentation. It is perfectly fine to walk in with a box at a party, and leave it in the box to serve guests.

Crave does fundraising promos for Susan G. Komen and Lemondade Day. Those are always good excuses to buy their indulgent cupcakes.

Crave's corner location is light and lively with all the windows. There is outdoor seating. Crave is also dog friendly, and the bakers love to chat with my pet.

Meh not that great. I was not that impressed. For expensive cupcakes they had an artificial taste to them. Guess I kept thinking that I could make better myself.

Desiring Cupcakes? This is the place to go.. Perfect. I really don't like to give five star reviews but I had to in this case. There was a deciding factor that pushed me to give it that extra star. First of all the cupcakes: awesome. I'm not really a cake person. I love pies and will eat a whole pie over a cake any day. Today though I thought I would take something special to my mom in the hospital. I swung by Crave, which wasn't as easy to find as I thought it would be, and headed in as I admired the design of the outside and inside of the shop. Very upscale and compliments the designs of the sleek cupcakes nicely. There were quite a few people inside but I was attended to promptly by a friendly employee. I chose the Red Velvet cupcake for my mom, and I decided I'd try one too and got the Crave Chocolate and Creme. The cupcakes are the best cupcakes I've had. The cake portion was a tad bit moist, not too much, but was mostly light and fluffy and flavorful. The cake was topped with chocolate and a dab of creme in the center. I could eat a dozen of just the tops by themselves. Mom really enjoyed hers as well, but she had been eating hospital food so she may have been biased. So the entire experience up to the cupcakes give it four stars but here's what put it over the top for me. The coffee. I drink a ton of coffee and I can honestly say Crave's coffee is some of the best I've ever had. The cup was ground and brewed after I ordered it so it was fresh. I chose the Dark Roast. It was smooth, strong (but not acidic), and had a nice subtle cocoa-y taste to it. I finished it all too quickly and plan to go back for more. Great stuff.

I noticed some of the other reviewers complaining about the price, but honestly you get what you pay for. If you want cheap cupcakes then stop at the grocery store and get a pack of cupcakes for a buck. If you want really good cupcakes and/or coffee stop at crave and spend a little bit extra to get a whole lot more.

Citysearch Editorial Review. Crave cupcakes aren’t at all like the kind your mom picks up from the grocery store. Made with ingredients like high-end European chocolate and Madagascar bourbon vanilla, these plump treats are as clean-lined and stylish as the mod white interior of their ultra-chic shop. But these super moist cakes do have substance to back up their style: expect to find a peanut butter nugget inside the peanut butter and chocolate version or fruity bits flecking the strawberry. Small batches are whipped up every day but once a flavor runs out, you’re out of luck until tomorrow. Take a peek behind the cupcake display for a bonus view of the kitchen.

Expensive? Yes, BUT the cupcakes are the best!!!!. I have dropped in twice in the past year and both times I was more than satisfied with my purchase. Yes, they are wayyy over priced, but they are seriously the best cupcakes I have ever tasted. This is definitely not an everyday place...It's a nice for a treat every once in a while. Oh and everyone was very nice that worked there. Some of the clientel seemed snooty, but you're in the Galleria area so it's expected.

$3 for 1 Cupcake?. A friend of mine had to make an emergency trip for another friend's bday to Crave Cupcakes. cupcakes taste great (hence the 2 stars) but seriously, $36 for a dozen? What a RIP OFF!!! Should've gone to somewhere else if it wasn't for the time crunch since I live really close to the store!

Crave Cupcakes owner(s): please lower your prices on your cupcakes, doesn't cost much for flour, sugar, and cocoa powder!! unless your motives are for your customers to pay for your luxury home and your luxury cars! thank you!

Fabulous wonderful amazing. The only word that describes this Great place is Delicious. Definitely overpriced but regardless of pricing it was 100% worth it. Best cupcakes anyone's ever had. I loved it soooo much. I could not recommend it more. Nice decor. When you walk in it cheers you up and makes your day. Then you eat your cupcake and for the next ten minutes heaven upon which you are feasting dissapears and you walk out, broke but soooo satisfied. :-) I love it more than any other cupcake place in the whole world. had a mixed tower once at a friends wedding. When no one was looking One level dissapeared... :-p ( person(me) licking lips)
