Dog Friendly Park. There is a gated area for dogs to play. Dogs are allowed on leash in most areas.

There are several outdoor events that are dog friendly. My favorite is Petapalooza which is in May.

VERY dog friendly park with playgrounds and more!. This park is very leashed-dog friendly and has a fenced, off-leash small and large dog run area. They even have dog specific events like Dock Dogs here. Your dog is welcome at most festivals and events, at concerts, and in most areas of the park except the fountains that kids can play in. Would be nice to have a fido fountain, our dogs need cooling too! There are poop bags located thru the whole park and lots of different things to do and see here.

Discovery Dog Zone. I've taken my dog to several outdoor performances and events here. My dog even met Mario Lopez here.

We've eaten outside by the Lakehouse restaurant and they didn't say anything. The workers even made my dog a water bowl.

The Kinder Large Dog Run and Harriet and Joe Foster Dog Runs offer lush grass at the park for the four-legged family member. The areas feature crushed gravel, fountains, doggie bag stations, and seating.

Dogs are not allowed on the Grove's patio, but seem to be okay every other place except for the lake and jumping fountains.

One of Houston’s biggest steps toward developing a downtown community was the opening of Discovery Green Park, 12 acres of LEED Gold Certified lawn and lake located next to the George R. Brown Convention Center. While downtown used to be largely abandoned after the work day ended, free movie screenings, Saturday yoga classes and a green market at the park have transformed the neighborhood. An ice-cream truck has taken permanent residence on Lamar St., children splash through fountains and strolling couples gaze at the sculpture installations. Grab a burger at the Lakehouse restaurant or, for a more refined meal, head to the Grove.

Best burger in Houston. I went too the park with my wife and kids ignoring the reviews above. If the people you are talking about are black people? then yes I suppose there are people of all ages, races. It's a good park. Great friendly,family enviorment. I went too the Lakehouse cause I heard the burgers were good, and wow it was honestly the best burger I've had yet in Houston and I have tried a lot. Anyway its well worth the visit and go eat those greatjuicy burgers !!!!

Save yourself the time and go to Herman, or Memorial!. The park is smaller than described on the website. The people that hang around there, look dangerous! Worst of all, THE FOOD IS DISCUSTING!!! Both The Grove and The Lakehouse have the most disgusting food I've ever encountered! And my family and I like to eat out a lot! Those two places are also under the same management, which may explain why both are gross. I was served a MOLDY salad at The Lakehouse, and didn't even get as much as an "i'm sorry" from the fat, rude manager. Needless to say, I will never be visiting this park ever again, and wouldn't dare recommend it to anyone else!! If you value your life, STAY AWAY!!

Good park. When it comes to the dog park it's really nice. Safe, the dogs within the park is well behaved. You dont have to worry about them getting into fights. People are are nice and friendly.

Discovery Avoid Green. The park itself is nice but the people that frequent it are thugs and convicts. There are people there without kids that are looking for trouble and there are no officers within viewing distance. The fountains the kids can play in are watched by a pair of lifeguards that couldn't save themselves. They spent the whole time we were there either texting their friends over the phone or blowing a whistle at kids to tell them to stop running. I can't tell you why they take this job and abuse its authority but they do. It was a nice thought but you need more officers patroling the area because its obvious that they don't.
