What Our Expert Scouts Say

Feast

Feast was the 1st restaurant in Houston to bring nose to tail cooking to town + in a homey atmosphere. Cooking is solid and food is tasty. Try the lamp shank or fish & scallop pie.

Feast is old world comfort food that never disappoints, nestled in an old house in Montrose. A definite date-night must. The snails on toast are a favorite appetizer and the entrees rotate regularly to incorporate seasonal veggies and other items. One of my favorite restaurants in Houston

Extraordinary Comfort Food. We went on a Sunday for a special treat and brought our own highchair for the baby. The food was fantastic and the service was exceptional. We got an e-mail announcing the special menu for that day and we made a reservation. We got to choose between two delicious items which we shared with each other. The staff and the selection were so creative and we cannot wait to go back.

Great atmosphere, great service, great food, great location. Very good find. Feast is located on a section of Westheimer close to some of the city's best restaurants and it fits perfectly. I nromally do not order dessert, but the meal was so perfect I did. The pear ginger crumble was amazing, spicy and sweet, piping hot. My two appetizers, pate and rabbit shoulder were both savory and a great start to the meal. The fresh baked in-house bread was a great beginning to being sat also. I got the crispy pork belly for my entree and could not get enough. The outside was crispy and loaded with flavor. The inside was loaded with flavorful juices and peeled apart like shredded pork. The service was also very very nice. We sat near the fireplace and the window and every member of the staff made us feel like we were eating in a family kitchen. Needless to say, I will be back, and probably very often. Appetizers, entrees, dessert and bottle of wine for two all for around $100 before tip, I'd say it's a bargain!

Best Restaurant in Houston. Sorry this took so long to write. We went to Feast a couple weeks ago and could not believe how good it was. Our dinner was incredible and the Molten Chocolate Cake for desert was beyond belief. We have been to all the best restaurants in Houston to include Marks and Chariavari and Feast is hands down the best of them (Sorry Mark, but you've been out-done). The best part? If's relatively inexpensive too. Can't beat it.

Moro, St John's even better. We have been to Moro in London (and have the cookbook, gifted to us from some London foodies), but not St. John's the world renowned snout to tail place. We heard that these two chefs previously cooked at one or both of those places, and so we went today. Richard Knight was in the kitchen and he delivered. Wow, awesome. We had the pork belly, pork cheeks, and treacle ice cream. The Spanish salad had so many flavors, I tried to count them and lost count. Basil, carrots, red onion, garlic.... The traditional "shepherd's pie" was a yummy smoked salmon, bacon and baby scallops, although I could have seen more salmon bits. Comfort food at it's best. And the music (soft, and very European.) The hostess and waitress (the same person) was very gracious, and we found her a delight. This all at lunch at 11:00 am on a Saturday, because we were off to a movie at 1:30 at River Oaks Theater. It seemed to us that the rest of the diners were chefs at other places. Thus we are confirmed that this is a "chef's chef place." A great day date, for us. Thank you, Richard!

Great Authentic British Food. My boyfriend and I went to Feast with 5 friends after reading about it in th Houston magazine and had a brilliant evening!! James was great and recommended a lovely red wine, which was very sweet and perfect for the summer...He also helped our non-Brit friends with the menu and was witty and attentive... I had the salmon pate but my boyfriend had the pig's foot and it was tasty with an unusual texture!! Everyone enjoyed their first course and the service was great, not too long before courses but not pushing you out of the door! I had the lamb shank pie with real pastry and it was mouth watering!! Even my mother doesn't make lamb shank pie as good as that :) The food is sizable but after seeing some of the deserts we made room.

We went upstairs onto the balcony and enjoyed the summer evening, more wine, our deserts and the view of downtown. They have a whole room upstairs and the decor is very pretty and homely with family pictures on the wall and a nice little 'powder room'. I had crumble and warm custard- it was lush and a girlfriend had chocolate cake that she hasn't stopped talking about!!

I'm planning on going back with a group of 24 for my birthday and the people at Feast have been so helpful that we are truely confident that we will all have such a fab night!!

Anglophile's Delight - A culinary trip to the UK. Feast is as yet a largely undiscovered gem. The ever-changing menu boasts the mysterious dishes we?ve all heard associated with England. I was excited to try "spotted d*ck" (a delicious dessert) and "black pudding" (not a dessert, but a seriously scrumptious sausage) ? and both dishes went far beyond my expectations. For many, one of the best parts of traveling in a foreign country is learning about and enjoying the native cuisine. With history as rich as that found in the UK, each traditional dish is truly a voyage back in time ? the culmination of the development of a country?s culture. And at Feast, you can enjoy it all without boarding a plane. The last time I visited for lunch was on a rainy day, and sitting next to the fireplace in the old restored house, enjoying my cottage pie (succulent lamb, mashed potatoes, and vegetables cooked to perfection), I couldn?t help but be thoroughly satisfied ? except for the persistent yearning to be abroad.

For anyone who enjoys fine dining, this is a place to go ? the atmosphere, service, and fare are unbeatable. For anyone who enjoys a menu that allows you to feel adventurous, while safe in the knowledge that no order will be a miss, please join me in making this restaurant a success!

Something Different. Great little place with a truly diverse menu. The food is as unique as you will find in Houston. Everything we tried was wonderful (pork belly salad, roasted goat, along with a variety of beer), and the service was perfect. I highly recommend grabbing a table on the balcony around sunset and enjoying the view.

Rustic, casual decor hints at the many Old World delights that rotate on the menu at this downtown lunch and dinner spot.. In Short
The ramblng arts-and-crafts-style house (formerly Chez Georges) is a charmer with polished dark woods and an upscale, casual atmosphere reminiscent of a countryside bistro. The menu changes daily as well as seasonally and features flavors from across England, France, Spain and Italy. Standouts on the rotating offerings include duck liver and lamb terrine, pork cheeks served with pierogies, shepherd's pie, cassoulet, braised oxtails and lamb osso bucco. Finish your European repast with a cheese plate.

Best Restaurant in Town!!!. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!!! This is a great place in a great setting, with friendly staff, excellent service, and the best food I have ever had. My friends and I tried this place about a week ago and I went back two days later - I just couldnt resist. For starters we had the pork rilletes, terrine, and mussels with a white wine sauce. For entrees we tried the salt baked whole bass, leg of lamb with mint sauce, vegetable moussaka, and the chicken "Bouillabaisse". Everyone loved their food! We shared a st.clements tart and a molten chocolate cake for dessert! It was delicious!!! Very reasonably priced as well. Go to FEAST - you wont be dissapointed
