Not a pleasant experience. Immediately upon check-in, we did not feel comfortable here. Gina said we could store bicycles in the garage/office. She neglected to let the owner, Lisa, know about this as we found out the next morning. Gina was unwilling to actually show us to our room 'it's at the top of the stairs, the key should be in the door'. The bed was comfortable enough, however the bathroom was in need of a good clean. Dust and grime on the walls, a towel that had something brown and sticky on it, just not clean enough. Customer service was poor and we were made to feel like an inconvenience for just being there. For $200 per night, I expect that if I have a bicycle in Houston, TX, that I'll be able to keep it on the property. I expect a clean bathroom. Based on prior reviews, I really expected good things from this place and I was incredibly disappointed.

This Is The Place to Stay!. This is the place to stay in Houston. Great bed, shower, breakfast, and location -- especially for artists and visitors to the Menil collection. The owner and staff are welcoming and available for any needs that might come up, and always for good conversation -- a plus for people traveling on their own. All in all the Modern B&B will enhance one's stay in Houston whether for business or vacation.

Stylish, Friendly, and Fun!. Had an amazingly relaxed, fun stay at this contemporary B&B. The bed was awesome, the bathroom was spacious, with a multi-shower head and a jacuzzi tub. The design of the rooms and common areas is clean and relaxing. The breakfast was gourmet, with fresh fruit and made-to-order ggs/omelets. The host/owner was friendly and very welcoming, giving tips on places to visit that met our interests and offering us wine before dinner. We had an excellent stay and would not hesitate to recommend this B&B to others!

The Coolest Place To Stay. Modern B&B is Fabulous and its location near the Menil museum is hard to beat. The woman who runs the place is an Angel who is full of wonderful suggestions on what to do in Houston. She really made me feel comfortable and at home. I had a minor problem with the room but she addressed the issue immediately. She's quite the character and really fun. Ask her where to find the best Gin and Tonic. I'll definitely return.... Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

Worst service ever.. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. The proprietor is one of the rudest people I have ever dealt with. After receiving confirmation of my reservation she called and cancelled it saying she had someone more important to rent it to. I love to give business to people who actually want it but...I never give business or recommendations to people that ride brooms and wear hats. This proprietor is definitely the later. If you are ever in Houston, TX take your business elsewhere.

A Great Find!. The Modern B&B is a truly unique place. I have catered and hosted many events here, and it has been a pleasure each time. There are always interesting guests and Lisa always has great stories to tell. You are sure to enjoy your stay at this wonderful gem!

Awesome Experience. Modern B&B was one of my best lodging experiences. When traveling to the Houston area I normally stay in the Clear Lake. My normal hotels in Clear Lake were damaged in the last hurricane and I was forced to go outside my comfort zone, so glad I did. The drive to Ellington Field was an easy one. This was my first stay and Lisa greeted and treated me like a long lost friend. The breakfasts are gourmet with fresh baked pastries each morning, eggs to order, yogurt, homemade granola, fruit smoothies and on and on. Looked forward to returning each night to the table to enjoy beer and wine with Lisa (the hostess of the mostess) and the other guests. Modern B&B is located very close to many great bars and restaurants. The rooms are very comfortable, WIFI throughout, full kitchens to use whenever you want. I will never stay anywhere other than Modern B&B for my future trips to Houston. Thanks for the great stay, Colt

Can't Get any Better!!. If you like Great Company, Meeting People from all over, Fine Wine, Very Comfortable Beds, Large Jacuzzi Tubs, and the greatest breakfast ranging from Granola to Eggs Made anyway you want...then this is for you. You actually feel like you have a home away from home. Lisa is the host that ALWAYS has a funny story to tell and willing to go that extra mile to make you feel comfortable and get everything you need. Enjoy!!
