“The view was cool because we got a seat right next to the window which overlooks the boardwalk and the water but other than that, I would NOT go back.”
“went there yesterday and the service was completely awful; it took us 20 minutes before someone even took or drink order.”
“The sushi was fresh and unique.”
“love sushi and my favorite sushi restaurant is Tokyo Bowl in Clear Lake and this place can not even compare.”

“service is great there and the staff is extremly helpful”
“got the hand roll because the cut roll was twice as expensive for the same amount of food and it was impossible to eat.”
“He Said She Said, Expensive, Small dining area, slow service, poor service”
Hats off to Landry's!!! Openly Gay!!! Good for You!. Hats off to Landry's!!! It isn't often that a company would hire an openly "Gay" staff at a child friendly concept. At Red Sushi, our bartender, A.J., and other male servers are gay and proud of it. A.J was delightful. After a few drinks at the bar we were then seated at our table and our server was also gay. Another young man who assisted our server was also gay. I was so surprised that a major company like Landry's would take such a big and "open" step. Good for you Landry's. So we were very happy with the service. The food was ok, and the view was "fabulous"......
Worst Service EVER. We go down to Kemah all the time but have never tried Red because we had heard of the terrible service. However, we went this weekend for my daugher's birthday and since she LOVES sushi and hibachi we thought we'd give it a try. There were 11 of us so automatically the server knew he was getting gratuity regardless of his service. It took forever to just get us drinks. The server rarely checked on us and the chef was by far the least entertaining hibachi chef we have ever had. The food was okay. But the surprise cam with the check wherewe learned that we were charged an extra $6 for splitting a plate (which we were not told and I did not see on the menu anywhere) and we were also charged and additionl $3.95 a person for FRIED RICE. We were not told that it would be extra and were never even asked if we WANTED the fried rice so we assumed it cam with the hibachi meals. When I spoke to the very YOUNG and VERY unconcerned manager he literally just stood there and stared at me with nothing to say. I have NEVER written a review but I have never been treated with such disresoect after we all together paid in excess of $500 for our meals with 4 of us sharing a plate and 4 of the 11 of us being children's plates. Wow. Never will be go there again. I will be calling corporate to complain.
Good Sushi!. The food & service is off the charts!!! I really enjoyed myself at this place. The hibachi tables are so fun. I also enjoyed the bar for maybe too many saki bombs......
Kemah's worst place to eat!. Normally you get bad service here and there when you eat out...expected. This was SO BAD that I had to sign up to write a review! 2 hours to get cold food! Not sushi. Steak. I know it was final four! It was a weekend! But if you can't run your business then CLOSE! Worst service I have ever seen at place! People came, ate, left while we waited! No one comes to your table offers drink or anything! 60 minutes just to get our order taken! Oh and if habachi is full- you have to order of a different limited menu! Food selection by where you are seated! No choice! Who does this? We left without eating- after waisting 2 hours and returned to our neighborhood sushi and hibachi an d had HOT food of our choice eaten within 30 min of our arrival! WOW what a concept. RED Is poorly managed! Poor food! Wait staff or hostess doesn't have clue! Only positive of night was at least the female bartender seemed to have her act together! She might want to consider employment with a place that is going to last! They keep treating customers like we aren't the ones who write their paychecks - they might not have any! Don't waste your money on RED!
Yummy Chow!!!!!. We were enjoying some fantastic spaghetti and lasagna at The Terrace Cafe and asked the owner where we could get good seafood. He suggested, Landry's, The Flying Dutchman, or Red Sushi. We spent the whole weekend in Kemah, so we tried all 3. Red Sushi was the best. Decent hibachi and the sushi was ok. I have had better, but it was decent. The hibachi chef was entertaining and the view was good. The service was outstanding! The view at sunset was memorable.
Fantastic!!!. I keep getting dragged to sushi place this weekend. I don't know which was better, but I ended up liking them both. As I said in my review of Michiru, ...I don't even like Japanese food , but .....I like it now. Red Sushi was fantastic!!! Great food, ....atmosphere,...service....I felt like I was in Japan. The staff puts in 100% to make you feel at home.....
Made me so sick!. This place made me so sick from food poisoning that I thought I was going to die! The food didn't taste good at all and the service was slow but I could deal with that. Being sick in the bathroom for 10 hours straight after eating here- not good! I ordered the egg rolls and a roll with crab and cream cheese, etc. Not sure what it was that made me sick, but it was something. My kids wouldn't touch their food because they thought is was bland. Pretty much a waste of money.
Going downhill. Unfortunately, my husband and I used to love Red, but that love is starting to decline. We really enjoy their happy hour, but prices have continues to increase on the menu, and two of our favorite items have been removed. Delicious edamame hummus was taken off the restaurant menu all together (we were told they wanted more "board-walk friendly" food, hence it was replaced with a fried calamari), and the dynamite roll (which is amazing) was taken off the happy hour menu. We asked the restaurant why it was taken off, and they explained it was too expensive for happy hour (yet the other specialty rolls on the happy hour menu cost almost $4 more than the dynamite roll on the regular menu- which makes no sense to me!). Regardless, the food is good, but not great, and is a tad overpriced. The service is consistently slow, even if the restaurant is almost entirely empty. It's a nice happy hour stop if you are at the boardwalk, but if you want really good sushi I prefer/recommend Tokyo Bowl (off Bay Area- best sushi I have had in the area, SUPER fresh fish), Sushi Coast (Bay Area near I-45, lots of creative rolls), or Ichibon (next to boardwalk, also has a good happy hour). If you do choose Red I recommend the fried rice, dynamite roll, and crunch specialty roll.
The BEST!.
The sushi is absolutly the best I have ever had. Lived in Cali for many years and this place just blew anything I have ever had away!
I will not eat sushi anywhere else now. Ate at the Vegas Red Sushi and STILL the Kemah one was much better!
YUM!!. Wow! What a fantastic restaurant! Went to Kemah for a birthday party last week and picked Red for our event. Didn't know much about the restaurant, just saw a lot of bad reviews. Totally confused by all the reviews! Our experience was great! We had perfect service even though we had a party of 15. All the food was really good. The sushi was fresh and unique. They did everything the way they were supposed to. Definitely a regular now! Give this place a try and ignore the bad reviews!
