No Entry For My Mexican Pals?. Now I rarely go out anymore but when I do I need to have a reserved table and bottle service. I'm too old to wait in line at the bar and bathroom and after I dance I need a place to sit.

Anyhoo a sweet lovely girl recommended I try Drake. I went online and saw it was a posh spot, but then I read the bad reviews concerning the "prejudiced" door boy with the power trip. I said, what the hell and thought we would be okay, because I had a table reserved. I donned my Fendi, real jewels and the guys wore collared shirts, fitted pants and dress shoes.

Needless to say the ones with the Italian and Irish last names were let in, but NOT the only two Mexicans.

After my pals were denied entry we stood there to see who the boy allowed entry to. No one was glam or fabu. Just Dawson Creekers.

I was like whatever. I can spend my $$$$ elsewhere.

The sweet lovely girl felt bad and recommended I try Pandora across the street, so I did. I had pleasant VIP and bottle service. It was a diverse crowd and we ended up having a really good time.

So yeah, I can't believe the little door boy. Please don't spend your money there and spread the word.

No to Drake and yes to Pandora.

Don't waste your time. If your not white don't even park your car and if you still try take a second form of id with you. You still won't get in!

Rumors are True. Either Exclusive of exclusive or Discriminatory club. This is the first weekend of 2009 and i've had doubts going here amist all the rumors and reviews about this club (not just from citysearch either if you search). So I go there and the guy ...just like all the other reviews, ask me for a second form of id after i show him my driver's license. Now to be honest, the guy was nice about it...going "honestly, it just doesn't look like you". Being asian, inside my head i said bitche we all probably look alike to you anyways.

And for all the other comments of maybe we couldn't get in because of the way we look lik on the outside.....So classics tailored slacks and shirts....i guess they could smell my shirt wasn't gucci ? And pockets only had American Express black n gold cards ? and the couple G's in my pockets weren't enough for the club ? (yeh i came prepared), maybe my car failed their "non-imported" policy...you know admist the whole economic crisis of domestic cars...they wanted help out ? Pretty ironic the valet parking ppl parked my car up in the front facing the club....but bouncer wouldn't let me in. Can't say the club discriminate since i saw other colors too...(but if you're gonna discriminate these days, let one or two in so ppl can't say that you are). For my "people"...trust me its not worth it, even if you trying to impress....throw it at smarter people and being houston...no such thing as being too "exclusive" that you HAVE to get it.

My friend who i was suppose to meet up, white guy with two asian girls ...HMMmm.. you guess it....of course got in...*wonders*....instead of trying....like other people say i rather burn my money than at "the exclusive Drake". Time will tell....but i do warn certain "people", don't make that club your only choice that night and be prepare to bring you a witness and notarized papers before you go...make sure it says " I'm rich.....really really rich....(no wait money doesn't matter there) and most important of all I'm of "exclusive" properties ;).

Don't ruin your night.. We flew in from Seattle and wanted to go to a nice place with an adult crowd after a day of long meetings.....if I knew how they were going to treat us we would have spent out money elsewhere. At the entrance, the bouncer allowed 2 of us in after taking 10 mins to read our IDs and then refused to let in the rest of my party which was stupid and irritating given the fact that we had taken the time to reserve a table. I had to beg and plead and near bribe him to have him let us all in. The people were great. The drinks were good but the experience at the ropes left a bad taste in my mouth. I have to agree with the other reviewer that said the sort of discrimination that is frowned upon was going on. It did come off as is they only let in a select crowd and trust me it had nothing to do with the dress code. I'm taking this place off the list of recommended places to party in Houston when we come back for our next business meeting.

It's an eh kind of place - Would give it 3 stars but had to stick with my conscience (see point 10). I had heard a lot about this place (the good and the bad) and decided to check the place out. Here is my breakdown: ==1==. Who - My g/f and I. We got in in about 5 minutes on a Saturday (around 11PM). ==2==. Decor - The inside of the club was fairly decent looking. Nothing too fancy but it was better than most Houston clubs. ==3==. Crowd - a mix of new money, pretending to have money, girls looking for guys with money, 3 people whose parents are narcotics dealers (not the street-level-dealer but sitting-on-a-yacht-dealer), maybe 5 black guys, 2 black girls, no asians, some Hispanics of European descent (basically looked white - similar to my g/f), some middle eastern people (yes they too could pass for white people), the token steroid pumpers and there were some nice normal people too. ==4==. Bartenders - Very nice and friendly. ==5==. Owner / manager - some guy named "Darren" (not certain of this). Very polite. ==6==. Doorman - nice guy on this night (nice to everyone). Different doorman on my repeat visit was not so nice to anyone. ==7==. Some girl with a clip board - (not too bright). ==8==. Overall - this is an average place. If you are trying to be somebody but will not quite get there, this is the place for you. If you are somebody, just check it out once, you will not return. If you do not go...no big deal, you will not be missing much. ==9==. To those who compare Drake to high end LA/Vegas/NYC/Miami clubs - please don't do this. This place is not close. Not with it's decor nor with it's "selectiveness". Upper end clubs do not use race as a detemining factor for their clientele. The end goal is to make the most money by running an awesome/classy establishment. Unfortunately my Houston is becoming like Dallas (full of wannabes) and they will probably keep the Drake running for some time. ==10==. Does the club discriminate based on races? Yes (especially against asians and blacks). They allow just enough "colored" people (like me) in to try and avoid the label.

Worst Club Experience EVER!!!!. I can not say it was racism that one could attribute to the utter mistreatment we encountered or just sheer and total ignorance.

We were attending a birthday party for a dear friend and the music and atmosphere is her kind of thing, however, our experience was tainted as soon as we arrived. The valet opened no doors, looked at us with a blank stare without saying a word before we finally asked him if he was going valet our car and how much it cost. He never said a word to us and just spun out of the driveway. We did not have trouble getting in because so many others in our group had been turned away already that the host for the gathering was not in the club and enjoying his girlfriend's birthday party but rather being the assistant to the bouncer to ensure we would get in without a problem. Per the rest of the group they had a problem with the set up of our table that we reserved; the bottle service was already deemed horrible ... By the time we arrived everyone was in "salvage the night on behalf of the birthday girl mode". We stayed about 30 min's (because my friend was worried about her car we could not have a good time The end of our experience there was like the beginning: The valet pulled up the car, opened the door and pointed to the car (still no words, was he mute or rude?) Cars passing by almost took off her opened driver's side door. ( this was the 1st time I have never tipped a valet-EVER ) Again I don't know if it was because we are African American or if this place has an abundance of rude, incompetent, & obnoxious staff . For those of you who say: "this place is great" let me add clarity: "Great" places often times offers the same service to the whole of their patrons... I understand that they want to cater to an exclusive crowd but should that crowd be exclusively one color? NEVER GOING BACK ~ we can pop bottles in establishments that want our money and work hard to retain it! -

Crazy Good Time!. What are some of you people talking about? If you are on here writing a bad review, it is most likely because you couldn't get in the door. I can't say that I disagree with them not letting people in that can't seem to appreciate the concept of getting dressed up and going out for a night on the town. I've been to bars and nightclubs all over the world and the best of them always have long lines and strict standards for who they let in. Whether you want to recognize it or not, Houston is a major city in the U.S. and should have exclusive clubs like this. DEAL WITH IT!

The Drake plays great music, has respectable service and caters to a high class crowd. I've always had an incredible time when I go with my girlfriends. We dance and drink until our feet hurt and usually meet nice guys in the process. In my eyes, it is the best place to go if you want to get dressed up and go out. If you want to wear scappy jeans and a t-shirt, go somewhere else.

OVERCHARGED ME!!. everytime I go to this place, they always pull some shady act! First time, they wanted my bf to have 2 types of identification with passport and birthday. I didnt get the memo that passports are needed at all time!! then I went with my other friends this past sat, I bought one round of drinks and they charged 3 different charges on my credit card.. Called Drake.. and NOTHING! YAPP.. I guess they assume ppl are too drunk to remember the amount of money the spent!

GREAT PLACE TO DRINK AND MINGLE. I DON'T KNOW WHAT EVERYONE ELSE IS TALKING ABOUT WITH LEAVING ALL THESE BAD COMMENTS, BUT THIS PLACE WAS A BLAST! THERE WAS NO LINE OUT FRONT. DRINK SERVICE WAS VERY EFFICENT AND QUICK. THE MUSIC HAD A GREAT MIX FROM BRITNEY SPEARS TO CYPRESS HILL. OUR GROUP ENJOYED THIS PLACE TILL CLOSING!!
