“We got there at about 8 so the parking wasn't too bad, but I'm sure if you get there a little later parking will be a disaster.”
“First when I tried to order crab cake, they were ran out, and it was just 8pm on Saturday and the restaurant was almost empty.”
“We wanted to order 2 bottles of wine, a red and a white - the waitress did not stick around long enough to get our complete order.”
“The interesting spices in the meatloaf, sweet battered chicken friend steak, fried ravioli, and gouda cheese mac 'n cheese all showed originality, yet no one at the table had anything but average comments about their food.”
“originally enjoyed this restaurant and was excited to celebrate my birthday there but was disappointed in the aweful service and change of menu.”
“It's a great place to have a gathering of a big group of friends, we had 30.”
“Will be back for full dinner next time, We came to late for the full menu.”
“Recently, my friends and I ventured out to Opencity because of my recommendation on the cool view and nice bartender.”
“The food was good, a little expensive, but i was very happy with it, and it was pretty much worth it.”
“My husband enjoyed a slow roasted lamb shank, and we both loved the shrimp appetizer.”
Horrible.
I would not recommend this place to anyone.
The indoors were so dark, it was impossible to even enjoy some appetizers with my friends.
Outside, a DJ was playing what you could hear was nice music but the sound quality was terrible.
To top it all off: they served all mixed drinks in plastic cups! Even the Martini I ordered was served in a flimsy clear plastic cup. Is that tacky or what?
Needless to say, I am never going back.
Love it. really fun place to hang out, staff was not rude, got right in and once I walked up to the bar I was served.
Staff has terrible attitude!. This place has the potential to be one of the best spots in Houston based solely on location. The view of downtown is great, if you don't mind sacrificing good service and a welcoming attitude. Service is hard to find at Open City, and the roid-raging bouncers are looking more to fight than they are to keep control.
Really Bad Service!!!. I have not been to Open City for about five months and I don't think I will be back. I originally enjoyed this restaurant and was excited to celebrate my birthday there but was disappointed in the aweful service and change of menu. Not only did our waitress disappear for 30 minutes (the nice bartender took our order) but the food could have been better and the staff made it seem like this was not a restaurant but a bar. I am very confused and disappointed in the transition of Open City and wish it could be more like it was when it first opened.
How cool is that. After several visits with friends and family members , I realized this place is not for everyone. My friends liked the frozen Mojitos and the steaks. My parents as much as they enjoyed the food ( steaks , burgers etc. ) couldn't stand how loud it was inside so we moved outside on the patio, problem solved. So goes to show . But any how did i mention how good the steaks are !!!.
never again. that place really was lame. too small and lonely. no one was even there we sat the whole time. the drinks were awful!! the most discussing mixed drinks ever. the service was really good but that's about it. never again will i go there and i don't recommend any one too. don't do it!!
Worst Service Ever. Great building including a rooftop bar with a great view of downtown. Fun menu with decent food. The WORST service I have ever had. Most recent visit was my last. No meal is worth the frustration.
EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE. I always beleive in reading reviews and trying the place myself. Place way busy, our bartender RYANNE was awsome, and very attentive. Finally we got our table, and our waiter was very helpful and attentive. Our food was good and a fun atmosphere. As a business owner my self I understand that the public needs star customer service. If only they would realize that sometimes things happen as in daily life, all orders are not supplied, certain staff members don't show up, personal issues at home. AS HUMANS we should see how we can help and not be petty . I will return because I liked the setting, and the food.
THE WORST SERVICE I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED. we had reservations and when we showed up had to wait for over half an hour for a table....the catch is there was NO ONE in the restaurant. the waitress gave us the most ridiculous excuse for why we had to wait. the drinks were aweful! no alcohol in them what so ever and they served my friend a martini in a stemless wine glass because they "ran out" of martini glasses....how absolutely tacky. the food was bland and presented as if we were eating at an outdoor bbq joint. my suggestion is for the owner to fire everyone on staff and hire people that at least know how to boil water and be pleasant and helpful to the customers. the only reason i give this place one star is because there isn't an option for no stars. i think open city should pay for a night out for my dear friends birthday to make up for the disaster they presented us.
Great view good food. We had a bachelorette party there, and the hostess was very helpful with reservations and seating us. The food was good, a little expensive, but i was very happy with it, and it was pretty much worth it. The drinks were WAY too strong. I know we would have ordered more drinks, if we could finish the first ones. We all ordered different kinds of martini's and we ordered them at the very beginning and sipped on them the whole time we were there, and most of us couldn't even finish them.
